Guest guest
hi every one finally caitlyn is out of surgery after 8 long hours things have seemed to go well but she is in intensive care for the night cos of her chest she is on oxygen .not happy with with the new g tube though big and bulcky kellie is seeing the surgeon again tom . when the time comes to change the g tube seemingly in a few month time caitln will not need a opp aparently you can change this without the opp. dont quite understand it at the moment,we did not see the new g tube till after talking to the surgeon so we did not know what it looked like but we were not happy when we finally saw it. they had to take the old g tube out to do the opp but the tube was stuck so they had to make the hole bigger to get the g tube out so they could not put it back in the same place, so a totally difrent g tube was put in but were not told or asked about seemingly it can easly be changed to a button but before the opp kellie spoke to the surgeon and told her she did not want a button cos weve heard a few bad things about them any views on this please seemingly the opp was very fiddly to do we did not expect the opp to last as long we did get told 4 to 7 hours but we did expect 4 how wrong we were well thanks for all your kind thoughts its late were all very tierd so were off to bed i will post you all tom rita kellie and caitlyn xxxxxx

Don't know a great deal about tubes but glad to hear she is out of surgery and hope she gets out of ITU soon. Keeping fingers crossed for fast recovery for Caitlin. You all deserve the rest now. Guest guest
Rita, Glad to hear from you - give Caitlin a kiss. Don't worry about the tube; in a few months she'll probably get a little button, which is much nicer than those old long tubes. Guest guest
Hi Rita, Kellie and Caitlin! Glad to hear the good news after such a long day! Rasha had a long tube for 6 months after they placed it before we got the button. To be honest, it was less work than the button. I just tucked it down the leg of her pants and flushed it when we were done to keep it clean. Now with the button I have to put the tube attachment on and off... In the end, I am glad we waited because it allowed the site to heal completely and her site (stoma?) looks great!!
