Is that still an option? I did that last year for NR as it too was a matter

of ease as I was in a city where there was a testing station and I also

wanted to see how the CBT process went (smoothly I need to add) but then I

thought

I saw something about that option going away?

My NR renewal is next spring, and I have to put together the renewal CE credits.

The total number of hours isn't a problem, but getting the 24 hours of

" refresher " credits in a " classroom " environment may well be.

Does anyone know of any classroom-type courses that can be used for the NREMT

Basic refresher credit, preferably on the north side of Houston?

Thanks.

Steve:

Since Texas doesn't have a refresher requirement, NR will accept CE hours in

lieu of a formal refresher course so long as the same topics are covered.

You might also check with County ESD-1 or Cypress Creek EMS since both

have pretty active education programs. My guess is the local community

colleges might also know of a refresher course, if you really want to sit

through a formal refresher.

I hear ya. The biggest problem for me is the number of " live " CE's that

registry requires. At this point, I'm planning on re-certifying by

examination, purely because it's more convenient.

ly, I would prefer to do it all online, but I was reading the packet I got

from NR, and it lists the hours required under " Refresher " (24) - which can

certainly be taken as discrete courses - but only allows 10 of the 24 to be in a

" distributed " fashion. In other words, at least 14 hours have to be live

" classroom " or seminar CE.

The additional 48 hours can all be online, etc.

I don't necessarily need a formal " refresher " course, as long as the course

meets NR's requirements for live instruction hours and content.
