Are y'all scared of a little competition? EMSEAT needs more teams for

the Valsalva Bowl! It's fun and... educational! Okay, maybe not

educational. It's just plain fun. Come show off what you know - a little

mix of useful and trivial knowledge.

Besides, what wouldn't be fun with Bob Page in charge?

So round up your colleagues and sign up to be a team at the Valsalva

Bowl.

Send your team information today to Weller, EMSEAT, at

EMSEAT and Bob Page bring back the Valsalva Bowl at Texas EMS Conference

2007!

That's right! This year, the Valsalva Bowl makes a triumphant return to

the Texas EMS Conference this year in Houston! In case you forgot, or

never heard of it, the Valsalva Bowl is a fast-paced quiz show featuring

teams of three competing against each other in a contest of speed, luck

and oh yes, medical knowledge. The winners receiving Texas-sized

trophies and of course bragging rights as the champions of Texas!

Sponsored by the EMS Educators Association of Texas, the competition

preliminaries will take place on Sunday night, 7 p.m., November 18th, at

the Hilton. The finals will be at 12:15 p.m. on Monday, November 19, in

the exhibit hall.

EMSEAT will take the first 16 teams of three to sign up. Even if you

don't get in, come to the event, as some teams may lose their nerve. If

that is the case, others will be pulled in! Teams are HIGHLY encouraged

to wear matching uniforms, shirts or whatever to show team spirit!

The game is a fast-paced question and answer session where teams of

three (ECA, EMT-B, EMT-I, EMT-P or LP, RN, MD, DO, whatever) compete

against each other and the clock to answer questions about EMS. The

question difficulty: about 60 percent basic, 30 percent ALS, and 10

percent trivia! Team members will use a buzzer to chime in with, but

they must be fast. The other team may beat you to the buzzer and answer

first. There is a large scoreboard with countdown timer and the

questions and answers are posted on a screen for everyone to see! Even

the audience can play along (but don't yell out the answers!).

The MC and game show host is Bob Page, native Texan and past winner of

the Valsalva Bowl in 1992. Bob has carried the same philosophy of the

Valsalva bowl with him and since 1993 has been doing the " Stars of Life

Championship " around the country. In fact there are 8 other states that

have champions. Bob dreams of having a " National Stars of Life

Championship " where the state champs come together for an all-out

competition. With Texas in the mix, it may just happen!

Don't delay! Send your team information today to Weller, EMSEAT,

at .E.Weller@....

I know an EMS " Odd Couple " , including one of our newest paramedics, who

should be thinking about this event. I know both plan to attend the

conference, so we'll wait and see if they're up to the challenge.

Donn

The victim that ate your chili was shipped to New Jersey to join the other

super fund sites. Did you ever pay the bill for that porta-john, or are you

still denying liability?
