Assuming you mean ambulance stock, EMS rule §157.11

lists minimum requirements for supplies and equipment

under subsection (i). The rules are linked from the

department web site, located at URL

http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/emstraumasystems/default.shtm.

On the right side of the page is a link to the EMS rules:

JJ.

Here is the rule on-line.  There are items listed here but they are general and

there are no counts.  Since the late 90's to early 2000's, this has been left

to a protocol issue mostly and although many have attempted to change that, it

has continued to be Medical Director defined...not State mandated.

Enjoy.

I think they still have some basic items that need to be on all units. I'll

do some research on this and get back to you shortly.

Read Rule 157.11, Texas Administrative Code. That lists the specific items

that must be carried. However, it has not been updated to include the

requirement for epi 1:1000.

You can Google it and you'll find it.

DSHS staff has written revisions to Rule 157.11 that should be posted

in the GETAC portion of the DSHS website during the next few days.

The proposed revisions to this rule address the Epi-Pen and many

topics that were recommended several years ago by the Medical

Transport Providers Task Force. Recommendations made by that task

force were delayed in being incorporated into rules because the task

force completed its work just before TDH was disolved.

Part of the purpose of the Medical Transport Providers Task Force was

to make recommendations from which regulations could be developed so

as to provide regulatory authority to the State, and possibly others,

that will make starting and running an ambulance company more

difficult for unscrupulous operators so that persons desiring to

provide competent, ethical service have a more level playing field on

which to compete.

If you would like to read the Medical Transport Providers Task Force

final report (four pages)it can probably be found on line through

Google. If not, email me off list and I will send it to you.

I encourage everyone to review the proposed changes to rule 157.11

when they are posted.
