Regardless of how low anyone's sex hormones are, I still would not start anyone on DHEA greater than 5 mg. I've read about too many negative side effects. It would be like someone super hypo. You still wouldn't start them with 5 grains. Always start low and go slow . . . IMHO. Barb

Just that is most likely the doctor's reasoning. I prefer to replace the actual hormones that are low not th precursors anyway. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://www.seewell4less.com/Valspage.htm Medical Alert Bracelets

Hubby actually fits guidelines for DHEA supplementation: male, saliva labs show low on DHEA and testosterone, but one 5 mg pill gave him a pounding, vice-like headache. I've even read some people have to start with 2.5 mg. Will probably try the DHEA again, AFTER he's optimized on thyroid. Barb > > I still would > > not start anyone on DHEA greater than 5 mg. Guest guest
I've tried DHEA twice - once when dumb doc put me on 25mg and I wanted to kill my wife, and then once on my own 5mg 2x/day and my Top Doc took me off of it. Don't know if it was helping or hurting - my mood wasn't good, but I was also only on 1/2 grain of Armour for a month and that will put anyone in a bad mood. I might try again after optimized too. > > <http://www.puritansale.com/pages/file.asp? > xs=7A170CF75A854F4A810AE64BA269A92A & CID=74 & CPID=1173 & PID=660> > > Copy the link if it breaks.
