Guest guest
Help???????? I'm courious, I have been diagnost with a rare neurological disease known as PLS or Primary Lateral Sclerosis. A variation of Lou Gherigs disease or ALS. I'm 46yrs. of age, worked most of my life and served my country for 10yrs. in the US Navy. I have had to apply for Social Security disability and SSI. They turned me down for the SSI because they said my wife makes to much money; 1400.00 month. She makes so much money that we had to file bankruptcy which is taking 350.00 amonth out of her check, to have me on her medical insurance because she makes to much, cost her another 300.00 a month. My prescriptions copays, because she makes to much and I can't get on Tenn Care, runs 270.00 or more for now but will go up as disease progresses. That's not including house note to keep a roof over our heads, groceries, utilities, insurance on house and vehicles, clothing, doctor copays and ect...... As for Social Security disability, I get turned down and recommended to go to the Tenn. Rehabilitation Center. Their physical therapist classifies me a catergory 2 out of 4 because I'm not wheel chair bound YET, but is coming. Their therapist even told them I will only get worse with time. Any way, the Tenn. Rehab. Center sent me a letter saying they were broke and didn't have the funds to retrain me. Ok, I was a plumber for twenty yrs. That job requires alot of physical strength and 2 hands to perform. My left side is about useless; which is my dominate side. I can barely write and I require a brace and cane to walk. Who in the Hell is going to hire me? So now I sit here and wait and wait on SSC. I have been unemployed for a year now. My wife and I are having to depend solely on God to meet our needs and let me tell ya, our God is a awsome God because he has been meeting them. So now, do ya'll help folks like me? I'm not asking for a hand out but a advocate against the SS office or maybe a lobbist in congress or state senate who can tell these guys the horror stories that people like me have to go through. I didn't ask for this disease, but it's my cross and I have to bear it. Well, I didn't mean to take so much of your time, but, if you can help, it would be gladly appreciated. If not, I understand. But it might be something you could think about starting. Anyway, my name is Bart , I live at 284 Harmony Dr. W., Mason, Tn. 38049. Phone Numbers are, or . Thanks!!!!!!!!!! Mr. Editor, I have written and e-mailed letters to Sen. Lamar , Sen. Bill Frist and Sen. Tanner. Mr. Tanner is the only one that continues to keep up with the progress of my appeal with the Social Security Admin. I have also written and e-mailed the President of the US. This is just the beginning of the horrors people like myself must go through when they become disabled. What is so bad, there is NO ONE to turn to for help and the present form of government could care less about the little class. Also they don't show the families like mine on the MDA telethons of someone in the working class when they are struck in the prime of their lives to see all the turmoil they have to go through and the hardships. I feel that our present form of gov. is unconstitutional because it is not ran by the people or for the people.
