Hi. I am 49 and I also get stares from older people. But I experience another

phenomenon. I have always looked younger than my age, but lately people

assume I am older. I was in the pharmacy the other day and talking to the

pharmacist about vitamin supplements and the pharmacist said " for over-50s like

you,

Centrum Silver is the best " I was so taken aback.. I was wondering if I am

starting to look older because of the illness, or do people automatically think

I am older because of the cane? Also, yesterday, I started getting very

depressed and a friend called and I couldn't talk to her because when I get

emotional my mouth freezes and I can't talk at all!! Just grunts come out.. My

speech is bad usually, but this is scary. She was so frightened she came over

right away!!

Fern, Yes using these strange objects to help us walk do make us look older

then we are. I felt the same years ago. A girlfriend of mine and I where

going to the movies and my friend got a regular ticket and when it was my turn

to

purchase mine the girl at the window asked " Senior Citzen Discount " I got

really huffy and said " NO " but afterwards I thought hey I should of said yes!!

Its just another bump in the road of PLS.....................Flora

Hi Flora and Fern

I look younger than my age also, well at least i think I do. but

lately people dont question my age anymore. they dont say I look

younger but thank goodness, they dont say that i look older.

Sometimes when i am walking along with my walker, i remind myself of

my grandma. so yeah, i think these walking device aids that we use

most probably do make us look older.
