yes, we can always find people worse off than we are, but it is perfectly

normal and also perfectly acceptable to say " why me? " and " this sucks " ... YOU

ARE

ENTITLED TO FEEL.

I for one hate when someone brings up a case of someone worse off than I am,

because I feel like they are telling me that I have no right to go into a

self-pity session once in a while. I want to say " Yes, thank you for pointing

out

someone less fortunate than I, now go away!! "

I did not misinterpret any of your statements . It came through loud and

clear that you realized that there are good people. I was brought up by parents

who felt that disabled people should be locked away and I still deal with a 76

year old dad who thinks I " shouldn't be out in public alone " .. he thinks I

should stay locked up in my studio apt and wait for someone to " take me

somewhere " , and he also thinks I should be living in a place where someone

" takes care "

of me

The other night I was out with a neighbor walking to a local pizza shop for

dinner and we had to cross the street , and the light was too short so it the

" don't walk " sign went on really fast and the light changed while I wasn't

across the street yet. Some young guy in a truck who had to stop to let me cross

yelled out " go to a nursing home, will ya? " .. I just shrugged, and said to my

neighbor " wait until he has trouble crossing the street " . but I have to admit I

also gave him an Italian salute.. You vent, Maureen, this is the place to do

that.
