Guest guest
Thank you, Barb, Thank you for catching it. I see where this could be an issue for someone with struggling adrenals. I didn't do it this way due to being thyroidless - I started out at 2 grains and increased by 1/2 grain two more times, now I'm at 1/4 grain increases. I did have struggling adrenals, so don't know how I did it. I usually do things bass ackwards though. LOL I was on 2 grains before I found these wonderful groups. Thank you for catching this. > > I would like to disagree with this theory for the sake of others like > me. What Missy wrote only applies if you don't have adrenal fatigue. More than one person in our group has had trouble with 1/8 grain increases, and I personally would probably die of tachycardia and have 100 degree temps at 3 grains. I read one doctor who researched historical Armour dosages before doctors used TSH and found that the majority of people were on 2-4 grains. So I would recommend that once someone got to 2 grains, they slow the raises to every 5 weeks, and then only raise by 1/4 grain. Your temps and symptoms would also tell you whether you can tolerate larger increases, or how far you are from your optimal dose. Someone with 97.6 temps still has a ways to go, whereas someone at 98.5 at only 1.5 grain needs to be cautious. Otherwise you could overshoot your sweet spot, become hyper, and possibly cause a RT3 problem. Not good. IMHO. > > Barb
Guest guest
Missy tells everyone on the NTH list to go up by 1/2 grain a week and doesn't mention adrenals. I mentioned adrenals once and someone said that the person I was addressing had been around a while and could stand the 1/2 grain b/c she was already on 2 or more. I don't say much over there anymore and no one responds to my questions on that list anyway. I like it here better > This is from Missy at the NTH list: > > Usually a person is started at 1/2 to 1 grain. It works best to > > increase every 2 weeks by 1/2 grain until you reach 3 grains. Guest guest
The specific question that I asked on NTH group recently was whether others with Hashis, which not everyone on this list has, have found that they feel worse as they increase Armour until they get closer to a therapeutically correct dose. The Hashis group is essentially inactive so I hoped to find a few people on NTH that might not spend much time here but who have had a relevant experience to share. I did not ask that question on this list so the suggestion that I was cross-posting and/or trying to cross moderators' answers is, IMO, an unfair characterization of me and that particular question. As I said, I find this list to be a little more hospitable and informative so I participate here and lurk on NTH for the most part. I do think that not warning everyone about adrenals before recommending a 1/2 grain increase is dangerous, but that's MO and I won't share it over there. Thanks, > > > I think you misunderstood the situation you refer to below. > The " someone " you refer to is me, Missy and I are moderators on the > NTH group.
