Hello all,

I'm away for a long weekend to NY and probably won't have email access unless

there's a Kinko's nearby or the hotel has a business center. Better be a DD!

Bob - I got the photos from the NY Connection Conference and will work on

putting them up next week.

- We got our tickets to come to the California TeamWalk (October 2)!

Everyone - We finalized the agenda for the 2004 National Research and

Beyond Conference in Massachusetts on August 29 (part of the TeamWalk Weekend

here). It's fabulous:

We have four outstanding neurologists presenting information on cutting edge

research on our diseases. Two are the researchers who got the first SPF

Research Awards: Dr. Fink and Dr. Marchuk. They'll talk about updates on HSP

and

PLS research. Dr. Fink will share highlights from the upcoming PLS Conference

to establish clearer diagnostic criterion to differentiate PLS from HSP and

ALS (lots of cross-over diagnosis)

We also have two experts from the MA General Hospital and Harvard Medical

School Center for Nervous System Repair to present " Stem Cell Research and

Regenerative Medicine " as potential avenues to cure degenerative diseases.

We have a motivational speaker and book author, Terry Wise, on

" Waking Up: Climbing Through the Darkness " .

And at the Friday Arrival Reception, we have Special Guest Elmer C. Bartels,

Commissioner of the MA Rehabilitation Commission. Mr. Bartels, a quadriplegic,

has had a distinguished career in rehabilitation, public service, and

disability advocacy. He'll share his personal story as well as a program on

" Living

Independently and Housing and Home Modifications " .

The hotel for the Conference and Arrival Dinner is the Four Points Sheraton

Burlington.

We'll have registration stuff available for the MA TeamWalk Weekend and

Satellite TeamWalks and Connections Conference up in a few weeks. California is

October 2. Toldeo Ohio is September 18. Sue is still looking into the Arkansas

TeamWalk.
