Guest guest
I know we all have good intensions here, but does anyone here actually take a step back and wonder if everything we are doing is really necessary. My child has a significant speech delay. The speech pathologist says that yes he is probably apraxic. He is only two. I am going through Early Intervension for the speech. I thought he sat a little strange and I brought it to their attention. Well in the last month (we just started in January) they have told me he might have a mild case of cerebral palsy. This week they say it might be a mild form of Spina Bifida. They have told me I might want to see the pediatric neurologist. I here in these groups to give my child fish oil. I see everyone labeling your children into people who will forever be giving excuses for their behavior and popping pills to cure normal behavior. I know there are some real issues that some children have I am not talking about those cases, which are rare. We should be very careful how we handle our own cases. SOme of you post here numerous times looking for answers, look within yourself it is your child. I think that doctors and therapists are way to quick to write in some off the wall diagnoses. When there possibly could be nothing wrong. The research on fish oil for speech delays is not significant enough for me. My child may never talk like everyone else. I am still taking him to speech therapy and working a lot at home. We are in a time when society feels like if people are not like everyone else then they are abnormal, which is is very sad. Listen to your heart, I am not saying do nothing, but just take it slow. Take a step back and think is this really something that I should do to my child. Should I be the one to disable him with a label?
