Guest guest
Dale: Jimmy and I went to school together many moons ago, we are both 68. Just before graduation he went swimming in a local pond, dove off an old ice house, hit bottom and broke his neck, and has been a quadriplegic since 16 years of age. He met his wife Fay who has polio and have been married for almost 47 years. They have remained my friends and have been my inspiration since my diagnosis of PLS. When I have my down days, I always think of them and their spirit and love and devotion to one another, and I realize how lucky I am. They have been self sufficient since day 1, Jim is a mouth painter and his is how he has made his living, along with an extensive doll collection. When I was having trouble raising money to get my van modified for my needs, they unselfishly sent me enough money ($1,700.00) to complete he modification, and they would not take no for an answer. Well he has a heart attack early May, and as of Friday, his wife told me the doctor's said it doesn't look good that he will make it. He has been in the hospital for 7 weeks. This wonderful group of people sent him many cards and have prayed for him, that's why I asked for more. He is in the fight of his life and he is in God's hands. I have been so blessed to have them as friends for so many years. And when I left the hospital after we visited with him, I felt that I didn't have any problems that I couldn't handle with my PLS compared to them both in wheelchairs. So I hope you can hop on the " prayer wagon " along with so many other's. Rita Oh by the way, Happy Father's Day to all! Till next time!
