Bedside Manners

Did anyone else see ABC news tonight? They reported that all 16,000

doctors graduating this spring have to pass a Bedside Manner test. BUT

IF THEY DON'T PASS THEY CAN REPEAT IT UP TO SIX TIMES. Wow I hope they

don't get that many chances for their other training.

I know many of you had bad experiences with doctors. ( I recommend that

you ask for advice from Ronnie how to handle them) I haven't except for

one of those rented emergency doctors really got under my skin. The

only time I drive is to go the bank or get gas for my riding tractor.

We live in the country it is only 1 1/4 miles to Kidron and Kidron only

has two stop signs. Last fall I went down to get gas for my tractor. As

the attendant went after my change I reached for the sliding door on my

van to close the door. I ended up flat on the cement and came up with

blood running out of my nose. They called the squad that I used to run

on and took me to the emergency room at the hospital. There was a young

doctor there and in talking I told him I had PLS and I had bad balance.

That was my second mistake of the day. You mean to tell me you are

still driving he asked me. I then told him I don't drive except to do

things like I was today. Thats too dangerous and you should not drive

at all. I asked him why and he proceeded to tell me that I might fall

while driving. I almost asked him how could I fall while driving with

my seat belt on. But I bit my tongue and keep my mouth shut. I was

afraid that he might try to take my license away if I said too much.

But when he wrote up my report he made the note that I shouldn't be

driving. After being so determined that I don't drive he did tell me it

was really up to my doctor and I to decide that.

All I had out of the fall was two of the blackest eyes you ever seen.

If you ever fall and have back eyes I have a good remedy for it. Take

one cold compress and one hot compress. Then alternate them on your

eyes. Do this two or three times a day you will be surprised how fast

the blackness goes away. Doing this breaks up the dried blood.
