It is very rare to find a mental health professional who understand neuro-hormones. Is your therapist a neuro-psychologist? Psychiatrist? Clinical psychologist PsyD or PhD? Guest guest
Tasia asks <<Kathy, What kind of therapist are you seeing? It is very rare to find a mental health professional who understand neuro-hormones.>> She's actually a psychiatrist, and a DO.... DO's of course tend to be more open (doctor of Osteopathy) She's young, and wants the be the doctor she always wanted and couldn't find. She's pretty much on top of the PTSD, reads the stuff I bring in, and doesn't treat me like an idiot. I'm also impressed that she speaks regularly to my PCP AND............. y'all better sit down.... she actually takes time to talk to you on the phone. My PCP is also not totally into natural stuff, but doesn't think I'm an idiot because I refuse most meds. I am taking Lisinopril for now, ( my bp's were sky high cause of life responsibilities and such) but he never tried to push statins cause I point blank said I would never take them.... Arizona is one of the WORST states to find a decent shrink and to find one like this, is amazing. SHE is the one who brought up addressing my adrenals before working on the Thyroid. I'm doing accupuncture, herbs and a form of massage called TuiNa... (all these alternative treatments through a local school and out of pocket but spending pre-tax health $$$$) Plus, my PCP uses the excellent compounding pharmacy we have here in Tucson. He PCP even recommends a Chiropractor who does extensive food allergy testing, but one thing at a time for me and of course the $$$$$$$$ aspect. I'll keep you all posted on the Saga in Arizona..... Kathy in AZ He is my defense, I shall not be move-ed...
Guest guest
Oh, maybe ai am confused, but I call the canary labs/diagnotsics and asked my doctor and they said I should stay on Celexa and Lamical as if I skip it for a couple days I can get very sick. They said the things that effect the test the most is any steroids , caffiene, and couple other foods. a ArizonaKathy wrote: Just throwing something out.... I was misdiagnosed bi-polar for years. now have what I believe is an accurate dx (diagnosis) of PTSD, BUT.... I'm beginning to doubt that, because every symptom of PTSD, at least the biggies are the same as adrenal fatigue. And without the support of this group, I would likely just be dealing with meds and coping. THANK YOU to each and every one of you. I'm wondering which comes first the chicken (psych dx) or the egg, the shot adrenals. And, yes, this is the shrink who thinks I need to address adrenals before thyroid... My saliva's will go out Dec 31, overnight mail. Need to be off a couple foods according to the tests, and am making sure all Zoloft and Buspar, as well as bio identital progesterone and a few herbs are out of my system. Again and Again, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kathy in AZ Just thinking out loud.
