Guest guest
Kori, I'm sorry! That's the point I was trying to make was that the bend in her bar was closer to her clubfoot rather than in the middle since the normal foot doesn't need the dorsiflexion. I had assumed it was in the middle, but it seems as though he bent it on one side for a reason... I just wanted to point out that for unilateral clubfeet, they wouldn't necessarily need the bend in the middle for both feet. Sorry I was so obtuse! Thanks for clarifying... About 4 " from the bolt hole on each side. I think some are bending them once in the middle, and some are bending in two spots. I've seen pictures of the red bar and it looks like it's curved instead of bent. I don't know enough about the red bar to say if this is normal or not. Whatever the case, I think as long as it's bent to 15 degrees dorsiflexion it's ok. Bending the bar in two places seems to give baby something a little more solid to stand on than if it's bent in the middle. I wonder if your bar was just bent closer to the CF just because they didn't make sure to bend it in the middle? Something else I've learned recently... and I feel a little stupid for not figuring it out myself... is that her normal foot doesn't need the 15 degrees of dorsiflexion so theoretically her bar should only be bent on one side. Interesting huh?
