Guest guest
Cara, I am interested in what brand of HCL you took? I think that might be part of the solution for me. I already do Vitamin C and can add Vitamin A. Anything else you think would help iron? Thanks, Cheri Re: My lab work is IN!! Hi Cherie, My iron was 5 in May and was 94 in November - 6 months later. I did not take any iron supplements. I was already eating meat with every meal so figured it was a problem with absorbtion/ digestion rather than lacking iron consumption. I took HCL tablets about 5 with each meal, I've also been taking a whole lot of vitamins for the last 6 months, specific vitamins are meant to help with the absorbtion of iron, I think Vit A & C but this is from my poor memory you may like to do a search on this yourself. Regards, Cara .
Guest guest
Hi Cheri, The HCL I am taking is: Now Vitamins - BETAINE HCL 10GR 120 CAPS. I bought it from this site: http://www.vitaglo.com/2938.html I am taking lots of other vitamins as well, I believe they all work together for healing in general. I can email you a list of what I'm taking if you like? I can't really help you much more with what is good for iron in particular as I have not really researched it. I was totally stunned by my rise in iron levels without iron supplementation. I thought it would have only raised a little. I have also cut out all refined sugar, alchohol, all grains and dairy except butter so that has probably gone a long way to improving digestion/ absorbtion as well. Guest guest
Thanks, Cara. Yes, if you can email me what you take and doses that would be great! ms.squarepants @ gmail.com (no spaces). Thanks! Cheri Re: Cara...question on iron! Hi Cheri, The HCL I am taking is: Now Vitamins - BETAINE HCL 10GR 120 CAPS. Guest guest
No problem, I will do that tonight when I get home unless I get a bit more free time at work today Also, I did a bit of a search on iron on the weston price site and found some interesting articles: Heres one that mentions vitamin A and D for iron (and general absorbtion). It also has some general info about thyroid. From the article: " Calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc, potassium, iron and good quality protein are all recommended for endometriosis and related conditions. Yet the body cannot absorb these minerals and protein without adequate amounts of natural, animal sources of vitamin A and D in the diet. Iron deficiency is a critical problem for women suffering from heavy bleeding but iron cannot be absorbed without adequate vitamin A.30 Many women have reported that bleeding worsened when iron was given without supplementation with vitamin A. " http://www.westonaprice.org/women/wise_choices.html Heres another article on improving digestion and it explains why unprepared grains can interefere with absorbtion of minerals inclduing iron! " Not only do grains contain starch molecules, but grains also contain phytates, which rob the body of minerals such as calcium, iron and zinc, and gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, oats and rye, that is very hard to digest and causes allergic reactions. Once again, when grains are properly prepared by soaking, sprouting and sour leavening, these components are largely neutralized. Guest guest
Thanks you! Excellent links. Take your time. Whenever you get the chance. I have been so spacey today that I left my backpack and shopping stuff at the tire dealer and they just called tonight. Luckily I only live a mile away and even though they were closed, they waited for me to go pick them up. I noticed that as a symptom when I really got bad in the mid 90s...that I kept forgetting things, misplacing, etc. and half the time didn't even know it. Like one time I left three bags of groceries near the exit of the store, left for 4 hours and finally remember. To my amazement, no one stole them and they were still there, lol! I really hope I get my brain back one day.
