I just wanted to write to say that my daughter never had an infection as far as I know but always seemed to have fluid. No one has been able to tell us why. She finally got tubes at 20 months. I really wish we would have pushed to get them sooner. I think they wanted to wait till her ear canals were larger before inserting them. She always had " flat tympanogram " test, indicating fluid is present, but the doctor couldn't actually see for himself that fluid was there because her ear canals were so small. In retrospect, the surgery is so minor I think I would have asked him to go in and look-if there was no fluid, don't put in the tubes and no harm done, but we can't change the past. Anyway, good luck to you. Cheryl
