" I had a similar experience, but I ended up with half a " fu manchu " mustache. Where I had the emg needle inserted in my cheek, close to my mouth,I started to see a bruise. Eventually, the black/blue area extended from the side of my mouth to under my chin. Some people thought it was a dirt smudge, but we told everyone that my husband beat me up LOL.
