mitoldies: Inheritance and mito

I was just wondering if a mother passes mito on to her daughter and that mother passes it on to her son can the son pass it on to his kids?

Is it always passed on thru the egg DNA in a mother or can a mother pass on a nuclear gene and if so would it be a recessive gene?

I am curious because if my husbands grandmother and mother were sick and my husband could he pass it on to my kids?
