Guest guest
Debbie- I too had Graves (or so they think it was), and had the RAI about 4 years ago. I've expereinced this with sensitivity to light some here and there but nothing too bad, I just wear sunglasses almost everytime I am out. Im anxcious to see what others will say. Im waiting to get more testing before I finally make the leap to armour, my adrenals are pretty bad, so don't want to try it yet. Its been up and down for years with symptoms. Its hard to say if sensitivity to light is a sign of hypoT or adrenal. I've also read about thryoid eye disease after having the RAI, which scared the heck out of me. My eye doc says my nerve in my eye has become larger, but nothing significant yet. That would be glacoma starting, I believe. Hopefully someone on here can answer this better than I can. I jsut wanted to tell you that I have the exact same thing, so you're not alone. THanks thyroidsupport@... > > I have Grave's disease and had RAI four years ago. Guest guest
, It's nice to finally find someone who can relate. I do have another complication which is a degenerative eye disease, but it seems like when my thyroid levels were doing good, my eyes did not bother me near as much. One thing my endo did is put me on Prednisone eye drops (1 percent) once a day to keep the swelling of the ocular nerve down. My eyes don't protude or " stare " but I noticed that while I am working with my thyroid and adrenals, I feel more pressure on my eyeball. When I touch my eyelid (closed)..it seems more pronounced. Hence you get drier eyes and more sensitivity to light. I am back on my drops and doing better but know it will be much better when the rest of my body is in balance. Thanks again...Debbie > > Debbie- > I too had Graves (or so they think it was), and had the RAI about 4 > years ago. Guest guest
Debbie- Wow, predisone eye drops? Doesn't that contain HC? Maybe its hurting/helping the adrenals then? I have degenerative eye disease in my family, as well as glacoma...and thyroid issues does seem to bring out every disease there is, doesn't it? I get that feeling about two months out of the year (the touching the eyeball it feels like its bludging more, with pressure of course), mine goes and comes. Maybe it is when our levels are lower/ or hgiher it aggravates the disease (graves)...the antibodies we still carry might even have an effect. Have you been tested for thyroid antibodies? Mine are still there, but not TOO TOO high...I get the throat swelling feeling every once in a while from that. I'll spend some time tommorrow looking up some stuff about antibodies effect on eyes/thyroid levels effect on eyes, and see what I can find. Feel free to email me anytime...this forum stuff gets confusing at times, trying to find the last message you wrote on. Talk to you soon, I'll let you know what I find. thyroidsupport@... > > , > > It's nice to finally find someone who can relate.
