Go ahead, Kim. I showed them when I was a newbie! LOL

Okay, okay. I am back on the way down, did you notice? How about if we see

which one of us, perpetually slow losers can be the first to lose 5 pounds?

(TOM water weight not counting!) How about it turtles? The five pound

challenge for the seriously challenged???

I could set you up a little bar chart going from 0 to 5 and we could see

whose bar goes up past the 5 first! Something like the attached file (but

hopefully with more contestants and real results!)

Kirstie, that looks great! I would love it, but I have two questions. Why

did you have Kim beating me? LOL and can I start out with 4 pounds gone???

Ummm.... luck of the draw and NO!

How about everybody send me in their starting weight today that wants to be

part of the 5 pound challenge for slow losers and we'll start the

competition. You can email me or the list whenever you go down any and

I'll post the results every couple of days as the race heats up.

How about sending us in your menus from yesterday and today, nne.

Perhaps you have some misconceptions about how you should be eating on

Atkins. Goodness knows that 0 carb labels have tricked many a newbie!

You are bad!! Let me use a parenting line on ya: " It's only because I love

Yes, Mother.

Thanks for volunteering to do the chart. I am going to assume that your

name will be on it too young lady. It's only because I love you that I am

being hard on you, I want you to achieve your full potential.

I was thinking I might be losing too quickly these days to make it a fair

contest ;-)

Of course, it all depends on how much soy I stumble across! Luckily my soy

gain is pretty much gone, back down to 227.75 this morning. That's 1.75

pounds since last Friday I think!

Good for you Kirstie. You could still join us in our race, if you get close

to winning I will just bribe Rob to slip you a little soy until I pass you

up! Just funning you as Terry would say.

What are the rules of the 5 pound race? Is it the first to get off 5 pounds? I'll join, but I KNOW I won't win, even with my secret weapon, the Duncan Ross Up and Down the Stairs 50 Times a Day Weight Loss Plan.

Rules? We need rules?!?!

Ummm.... on your mark, get set... GO!!!!!

First one to get 5 pounds off wins a hearty round of congratulations...

Second one to get 5 pounds off wins a round of hearty congratulations....

Third one to get 5 pounds off wins a bunch of heartfelt congratulations and the incentive to catch up to the first one who by now has another pound gone...

We have no rules... just a funky new chart! ;-)

I'll update this thing daily if we want - send it out every night before I go to bed so that those on the lose can see it quickly.

You've got a point there! I was just thinking, if I lose 5 pounds, it'll put me at the lowest weight I've seen in 20 years. In my early 20s, I crash dieted down to about 145 to 150 pounds. I just pulled out a couple of pictures of me at that weight to compare to now, body composition-wise, and I think that even 10 pounds heavier, I don't look any larger now, but seem to be more toned. Even with 20 more years on this old body.

What do you guys think? Here are some pictures of me 20 years ago. The one in the red dress is July, 1981, and the one in the cream dress is December, 1981. The second two are more recent . . . New Year's Eve 1998 and January, 2001.

Terry, you aren't getting older, you're getting better!!! You look great now! Of course, as someone who always had sunken treasures instead of being blessed in the chest, I see you have made a progression from blessed to sunken. I went from sunken, to mildly blessed and back to sunken. LOL

Truth be told, I have to say that my treasure chest was surgically sunken back in mid-1982. I found that besides just being a general burden, a large bosom on a woman in her mid-20s in public sector employment was more of a liability than an asset. I mean, until after my breast reduction surgery, I bet there wasn't a man I ever did business with who could tell you what color eyes I had!

I'm so glad I did it! It was one of the best things I've ever done. I went from a 36 F bra (the largest size I could get, but I was still overflowing) to a 36 C. Over time, Mean Old Mr. Gravity and the yo-yo weight gains and losses have left me, these days, at a somewhat droopy 36D. But, thank God for underwires and lycra. I'm still on a mission to find the perfect bra . . . one with hydraulics in each cup!

Is there a time limit? A number of weeks this 'contest' will cover? I have never

put a time limit on when I wanted to lose X amount of weight. Not making it

would be WAY too discouraging for me.

Thanks, Marlena!

I've always said my looks must be like wine . . . improving with age. Now, the trick will be to capture them at the perfection stage, before they turn to vinegar!

Terry

ME TOO!!!! In 1998 I was struggling to find a bra that fit, I ordered

online went to speciality shops had someone come here and couldn't

find anything to fit. I was in size H-J and in pain. I went down to

a 38/40 C. They took out a total of 4.5 pounds. It was the best

thing I've ever done for myself too. I was 27at the time and hated

having big boobs ALL MY LIFE!!! I see so many women now with big

ones and I just want to run up to them and say talk to you doc!!!

Mine was covered 100% by insurance b/c of the pain I was having.
