Guest guest
From an earlier post of Val's: " When you have high cortisol it blocks conversion of T4 to T3 then the T4 builds too high in the body and to rid itself of the excess T4 the body will make RT3. If this is prolonged (or in some instances it seems folks just get stuck in this mode) the RT3 fills the T3 receptors, but as it is inactive it then blocks the T3 you DO have from entering the cells. As long as you have T4 in highish amounts the RT3 is replenished in the receptors and you will get toxicity symptoms from Armour. " So you would need to stop any med containing T4 and move to T3 for awhile. Isn't that what you're already doing? I am now switching from the time released T3 and my body is hypo again--I am concerned that T3 won't give my body the spectrum that it needs.... I would like to learn how to interpret my lab results so I can review my tests from the last 6 months. I do not understand why my FT3 is high on the last test.... And my Rt3 was 10%...the top of the range is 32%...is that high? What is normal? Tasia
Guest guest
rT3 41.7 (6.7-21.8)high This shows a conversin problem btu the reason it you were making too much RT3 is because you were on too much Armour. You passed your sweet spot. Once T4 goes over abotu 1.4 The RT3 starts to climb. All the T3 in the world will not make you feel unhypo when RT3 is that high as it cannot get to the cells. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

I have very high levels of RT3 and yet I've never been on Armour or any type of thyroid treatment. Cara

You must also lower the SOURCE for Rt3 which is T4. As long as oyu are keeping the T4 at high levels a fresh supply of RT3 is constantly being made and strongly attached ot the receptors so no T3 can work. > Thanks . That's what is puzzling to me since i have not been on any treatment for thyroid so its not as if my high T4 is coming from Armour or Synthoid. Do you know what else could cause the high T4? Guest guest
I think if you have conversion issues and/or cellular resistance, the natural thyroid your body produces can't convert or can't get into the cells and what is left is a lot of T4 not being utilized. My T3 was over the window and the T4 was at top of window. What you say above to that person is that they were on too much armour and they passed their spot. On another post you said the following: " Getting T3 high is not the ONLY part of clearing out excess Rt3. You must also lower the SOURCE for Rt3 which is T4. As long as oyu are keeping the T4 at high levels a fresh supply of RT3 is constantly being made and strongly attached ot the receptors so no T3 can work " I did as you suggested Val and cut back my HC 2.5mg and Armour 30mg when we found the rT3. Did I miss my spot? So I am wondering if I should cut back my Armour a little more to bring my T4 down more? I have another lab test on Dec 27 for the doc so I will be able to see where I am. My T3 should be here in a week or so.... but if T3 can not work with high rT3, how does giving additional T3 help? I'm confused...

Guest guest
>>but if T3 can not work with high rT3, how does giving additional T3 help? I'm confused...<< Thsi si why you need ot go on NOTHING but T3. You have to stop the flow of T4 into your body. This is accomplished by taking a full supressive dose of T3 onyl. You want to worj=k the T3 up to have a TSH as close to 0 as you can wihtout getting hyper symptoms. Mine was .015 last test, wiht my T4 at .26 and I doubt it would go much lower. My Free T3 is 6.2 which is RIGHT where ti needs ot be to clear the receptors. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
