Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Based on the advice from folks from these groups, I did get my adrenals tested, along with other hormones and iron/ferritin. And as I suspected my cortisol is all out of range - low at morning/noon/evening and high at night. Recent ferritin/iron tests were also low. My doctor called and wanted me to go on 625mgs of ferrous sulfate which seems like an awfully high dose to me! I haven't started taking any iron yet, as I wanted to get feedback from others that might have more experience with this. (that's funny that I think these groups have more experience than my doctor - but it's true!!) Currently I'm on 2 1/4 grains of Thyroid - S (1 grain in am and 1 1/4 at 2:00pm) and my energy level is always low. It appears as if the ferritin and cortisol are responsible at this point. I'm also on progesterone cream on days 12 - 26 of my cycle and this was as a result of abnormal test results about a year ago. This seems to have balanced that out and the symptoms I experienced at that time are gone. I have no idea what to do in terms of meds to deal with the cortisol. Also, my testosterone is low. What is that about? Part of me is glad that these results confirm my suspiscions, but I'm angry because all of my doctors refused testing and I had to go to ZRT labs and pay out of pocket because I wasn't supported by my own docs!! I very much appreciate any advice on how to address the ferritin and adrenal issues with meds. And if this means I will have to lower my dose of Thyroid - S. Of course my Endo wants me to lower my dose of thyroid meds and REFUSES to prescribe natural meds, so she will only prescribe $ynthroid. HELP!!!!!
