We were wondering what would happen if our son fell and hit his head where the magnet is? Would the magnet inside his head become dislodged or damaged? Our son is almost three and extremely active. He falls at least ten times a day. So you can see why we have this concern. I wouldn't thing that they would put something in his head that could be easily damaged but I don't know. But if your child will hear with an implant and won't without it (and you have decided you want your deaf child to hear), this is not a factor that will likely weigh hugely on your decision. Your child could fall and hurt his or her head and cause damage that would require hospitalization without an implant too. There's no such thing as a kid who doesn't come with risk. LOL. So far Neal has not smacked his implant area hard enough to cause damage, and if you knew Neal, you would know that kids don't come much more active. He got his when he was 2.9 years and has made it to the age of 5 so far :-) Rhonda Mom to Audrey, 7 1/2, hearing; and Neal 5, profound, CI at 2.9 years
