Guest guest Posted December 15, 2007 Report Share Posted December 15, 2007 hey.....lm not a guy....but l have 2 young daughters on thyroid meds...my one went on at l5...she was active with soccer and high school and one day just couldnt get out of bed...we didnt really notice at the time but her face and ankles were very swollen with water....her tsh was fine but her t4 even though in limits was at the very bottom of the limits....the doc l took her too said a teen needs to have the t4 at the upper l/4 of the numbers....put her on 3 grains of armour...she lost l5 lbs....all that water weight and took up playing the bagpipes....played with a local band and went to Scotland to the finals....meaning...she had plenty of energy...and wind to do that.....5 years later my younger daughter was just getting puffier and puffier....she was playing volleyball...basketball...running...swimming and just getting heavier and heavier...ok..crabbier and crabbier too...l had her tested and even though all her numbers...and l mean all her numbers...tsh of l.75 too....were all normal...she had elevated antibodies.....she has been on armour 2 l/4 grains for 6 weeks...she has lost l0 lbs already....never had to miss a beat like my other daughter who actually got sick....l am seeing her cheekbones for the first time in about 7 years.....l am thinking it started for her in the 4th grade...she is a freshman now.....its very suttle...my doc goes by temps and she was running low...along with the symptoms was enough for him.....l was the one that wanted the bloodwork and he was right...hashis...just like me....l would say a young man like yourself should be on at least 3 grains ....minimum....l am on 6.....thats what it takes for me.....Val V. **************************************See AOL's top rated recipes (http://food.aol.com/top-rated-recipes?NCID=aoltop00030000000004) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
