Guest guest
>>What is the best type/brand to get? What kind causes the least pain? I think I'd like to do at least some checking of my blood sugar, but am quite squeamish and fearful about sticking myself. I know I could never do it with one of those old style spring loaded lancet things that look to my fearful eye like the lancet comes shooting out a foot.<< I prefer either the Ascensia Contour meter or the Ascensia Elite meter. The COntour meter is newer adn gives fast accurate readings. The NEW lancet devices are almost painless! The needle is so fine if oyu are not careful you will nto get blood! LOL Use the sides of your fingers rather than the tips as they are less sensitive. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

Once had 3 pets all getting shots at the same time. And I can do subQ fluids too, but I'd sure rather stick someone else than myself. What kind causes the least pain?> I didn't save the website...but I read that the FDA or some government group approved this " watch " device that continues to measure glucose throughout the day by collecting the moisture that leaves the skin. Another device uses a laser to draw blood... Research is pushing for less invasive ways to measure glucose. Tasia
Guest guest
If you're hypoglycemic, still the best way is to test the fingertips or toes. The reading you'll get from there will be the first to show low BG. BTW, the people I know who've tried the laser style say it's worse than poking, it burns. The lancets they have now are so fine that you can barely feel it. The coolest thing is the new BG monitors that you attach similar to an insulin pump, they can measure the BG every 6 seconds. Guest guest
What about the Ascensia Breeze 2? Know anything about it? <http://www.walgreens.com/search/search_results.jsp?_dyncharset=ASCII & term=Ascen\ sia+Breeze+2 & x=0 & y=0> Walgreens has a rebate special on it, so it supposedly ends up costing $10. No test strips come iwth it, and I knew people have said the test strips are expensive, but my God! Expensive is inadequate to describe the cost of the strips! sol wrote: > I prefer either the Ascensia Contour meter or the Ascensia Elite meter. Guest guest
I was at the doc's yesterday with S.O. and mentioned that I was not sure his meter was working correctly even after calibration since he was having such low BG symptoms, yet the meter shows ranges of 118 - 125, but when food/protein/some sugar is given there is an immediate recovery, hence my thinking the meter might be bad. So she says, well they are free so I will give you one..and she did - it even came with strips... I have it at my house, I will try and post what brand it is, since they apparently are ONLY too willing to give them away, so perhaps you have to buy their strips??? But they are the same strips as his other machine too. Maybe the company can be contacted directly for free machines??? SeaLady
