Guest guest
Cheri, Is their one you can reccomment. I haev taken Country Life for Omega 3 and they were great. If it is the liver is it something thatshe looked at right away. I do not think my blood serum checked my liver panel. My Western doc I am calling tommorow to see if she can give me a lab slip to get the thyroid antibodies tested as the doc forgot to mark it and I will have a liver panel. The liver levels were up a tad in the beg of the summer due to one of my meds and then it dropped back down two months later. a MsSquarepants wrote: Milk thistle is okay to take with the meds you are on. It will even help their effectiveness since it helps the liver process medications by protecting and cleansing it. Try some and see if you tolerate it. The majority of people tolerate it very well. Get a good one that doesn't have a bunch of fillers. Yes, that toenail thing very likely could be your liver. Cheri Toe nail coloring ? I forgot to mention that my toe nails, espeically the two big toes are purplish in colr which happens for a few days a month and the left toe mail has a line down the left side of it that is reddish or burgoundy in color. Can this be a sign my liver is not functioning well? I know it is working overtime as I am taking a couple medications. I do try and drink mainly water. I showed my doc last time and he said maybe the liver. It was the last minute in are apt. I do know Milk Thistle is good for the liver butI am on meds for depression and when i ask the store they are not sure if it would be ok to take. Anyones feedback is grately appreciated! a

Guest guest
Country Life is a pretty good brand. I looked it up here: http://www.country-life.com/moreinfo.cfm?Category=3 & Product_ID=36. They do have a few more fillers but nothing that looks bad. I think you might need a stronger dosage though. Something with at least 500 mg per dose and Standardized to 80% Silymarin. Either that or just take more pills. I use different brands, whatever is on sale. A local store had " buy one get one free " so I stocked up. If you check the label and make sure it doesn't have things like talc or lots of fillers and you will be okay. Why they put that crap in supplements anyway, I don't know. Profit margins I guess. That is the stuff I react to. My current bottle that I am finishing up is Sundown that only has gelatin as the filler. I have used so many brands though and all have worked well for me. There are stronger ones that you can Google info on. I think especially in your case with your meds, you will get a lot of benefit from it. With me, my liver is full of mercury so it helps me in that regard. The liver is also responsible for thyroid and adrenal hormone conversions in part, so you might find you need less of that and your psych meds as you build up liver support because everything works better. With your meds, I also recommend you use dandelion. Dandelion and milk thistle work together to support the liver and are better taken together. Since you want to test for reactions, I say introduce the milk thistle for about 3-5 days, if all is fine, then add dandelion. I helped a woman with liver disease get her enzymes back to normal after 15 years and her doctor was amazed. I bought her dandelion, artichoke and milk thistle as they all support the liver and after 30 days her enzymes were normal. She didn't even want to take them but only did because I paid for them, lol. You will want to take the Milk thistle 2-3 times a day and work up to at least 1 gram. You might need more. After 30 days there should be positive changes if you are on a good dose. With me, I noticed that it seemed my liver was processing things better and I was getting more benefit from all the supplements and food I take. After 6 months I really noticed. The nice thing about milk thistle is even allopathic doctors are recommending it to patients so it is one of the few things that crosses the naturopath/allopathic barriers we often see. Guest guest
Cheri, I just got finished reading that I should start real slow with the Milk Thistle because it detoxes and it can cause some harsh things if taken more than once a day at frist if one has been on alot of medicatiions for a long period of time. I am going to order the 1st one you reccommended and as soon as I get my Iron results will see what I can purchase their for Iron. a MsSquarepants wrote: Country Life is a pretty good brand. Guest guest
a, Are you taking anything else for detox? Made any diet changes? If you're first starting out to detox, you will need to start slowly otherwise you may feel really bad. Many times people don't understand this and will quit taking whatever supplement they think caused them to feel bad. The symptoms depend on how bad you need to detox, what supplements you take, etc. You're taking a lot of meds now which cause all kinds of side effects. Items like milk thistle will definitely help.
