Guest guest
Sandy, I have neck pain almost every day but it is not a serious pain. Just an ache in the base of my neck. When turning side to side it cracks and creaks and it almost sounds like there is sand inside. I was told to do some neck excersises for it but I never seem to make time for it. I had x-rays done it shows a little arthritis starting. I would speak to my doctor about it. The fact that your neck is weak should be looked into..................Just my thoughts............Flora
Guest guest
Every time I have a follow-up visit at the ALS Research Center, they always ask if I have any signs on neck pain. I think you should mention this to your neurologist. Gentner Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much. Guest guest
Flora's being far too kind! The main and primary cause of her neck pain is ME!!!! I know, I know, that may seem hard to believe, but I gotta admit it's true. She runs the house like a field general and takes great pride in seeing that everything is clean and orderly. Let me hit the door after a tough day in the trenches and the place looks like a war zone in mere minutes. I try. I really do. But old habits are hard to break and developing new ones seems to come natural to me. I have a favorite pair of deck shoes, complete with scuffs and worn down heels that I truly love. Gawd...are they ever comfortable! If I manage to get Flora and her walker into the Explorer without her noticing I have them on, I'm one comfortable puppy. However more time than not, I'm ordered back into the house to don another pair that I haven't liked since I bought them. Speaking of habits, I also park them just inside the front door as I enter the house. I know shouldn't. Mom and Flora raised me better, but why put them away if I'm just going to put them on again???? Somebody help me here! I am cursed with having to wear appropriate business attire all day which includes a tie. Just can't wait to shed the corporate trappings and slip into my absolute favorite shorts and t-shirt. Actually, I have two other similar ensembles that are equally as comfortable, which I rotate so as not to wear out any one outfit prematurely. Faded? Yes. Stretched out? Kinda. Clorox-proof stains? Well, maybe a few. But hey, they so closely match my recliner, which is another story. This is just one example of vertebra abuse (aka pain in the neck) Flora's had to endure for almost 37 years. In the meantime, the clock it ticking as I work on perfecting the old habits and develop new ones. Have a great day. Doug/St. sburg, FL belgium46@... Guest guest
Hey Bud If she was a true General as you say those so called comphy shoes wouldnt be by the door would they ?I love being just in just plain close .But since i dont get to dress up much i enjoy that too .I remember my Mom doing house cleaning in High heels and very nice clothes .I gave up years ago on wearing what i want now i just tell her get out what you want me to wear .Now logically this makes more work for her but thats cool if she gets sick of doing that shell quit.Genrally to get someone to quit something is let them have their fill of it (get sick of it ) another words become the ultimate clean fanatic and every time you need to put something on make sure you ask her if it looks good .do this enough and shell get sick of it .she finally say just wear what ever Try It GEO Re: neck > PLS-FRIENDS > > > > > > > Sandy, I have neck pain almost every day but it is not a serious pain. > Just > an ache in the base of my neck. Guest guest
Sandy the answer is Muscle relaxants had the same problem and quit the Meds GEO neck > I have a question for all my buddies out there. > First of all I would like to say good morning. > I have been having a terrible time with my neck being really weak, to the point where at times it is hard for me to keep my head held up. A while back I was being woken up with terrible neck pain, I no longer have the pain since I started on the medical marijuana, but now this is going on. I really dont think it has to be with needing an adjustment or anything like that. Have any of you experienced this? > >

Guest guest
Now Now Doug, After 37 years if she really was mad about all that I am sure she surely would have put her foot down. She sounds like a very loving and careing wifie. As for you, you soung like a wonderful hubby too. I am with you,(sorry Flora) about wearing the grungy slippers and clothes once inawhile, like my torn, stained, and worn swets. They cover me up but feel so comfy. My hubby says around the house but no more outside the house.(boy what a party pooper) Hope you have a comfy day. Sandy
Guest guest
Doug: You are an absolute riot!!! If you are the cause for Flora's 'pain in the neck' then we should all BE SO LUCKY! My best to you both. Jo. Re: neck > PLS-FRIENDS > > > > > > > Sandy, I have neck pain almost every day but it is not a serious pain. > Just > an ache in the base of my neck. Guest guest
Hi Sandy Necks are nothing to ignore in our neurological world. Here's what I have discovered. Neck muscles can atrophy quickly in ALS. My friend had to go to a neck support even before he sent to a wheelchair. Necks with some arthritic damage are easily sprained with exercises like crunches, sit-ups, or pilates. The neck can also be sprained if you sit at a computer and prop your head up with your hand and bent elbow for anytime. This causes stress right at the brain stem - spinal cord connection so I've noticed not only does my neck act up but I lose some leg coordination as well. Physical therapy can help strengthen those neck muscles if they are already getting so fatiqued that your head drops. Sandy if you are also blessed with osteporosis, the bones and discs in the neck can literally crumple. Necks are very important. I'd get to the doctor quick if I were you. Guest guest
Hi Sandy, I experience neck pain when I'm on the computer too long. It radiates to my shoulders. When I go to bed it subsides. If you're having a terrible time with it maybe you should tell your neuro about it. I'll keep you in my prayers for that also, o.k. Keep us updated. Take care and...
