Guest guest
Hi Alfred I was on Flacanide two weeks ago after a successful cardioversion. However, the drug made me sooo sick, plus the fact that I was out of breath walking a short distance. My legs were so heavy that they left like I had lead in them. The worst part was the fact that I could not breathe correctly and I had chest discomfort. I was an active person and basically became an invalid. I cut the dosage in half taking only 25mg twice a day. After 5 days, my rhythum went back to AFIB. I asked the doctor to put me back on my medication prior to Flacanide (Metroprolo, Coumadin and Dioxgin) . I have to say that I feel so much better. Other members in the group have mentioned they have been successful with Flacinide...so I guess it's depends on the individual. Good Luck to you! No complaint about the afib now, after the ablation 3 months ago, most of the episodes are gone & i forget that i ever suffered from afib, but this damn drug makes me numb & i can not even concenterate at my work. Does anybody feels the same with Flac? Alfred 43. 3 months post ablation, Flac+ Metoprolol+coumadin= NSR. Guest guest
What times do you take your doses? I used to take mine at bedtime and in the morning, but adjusted those times to bedtime (midnight) and noon. These spaces the doses evenly and places the peak serum levels during the time I am sleeping and early to mid afternoon instead of mid-morning. Works for me . . . Guest guest
I fell dizzy and light-headed when I take flecainide, too. It's tolerable, though, and it passes after a while. But everyone is different. I couldn't tolerate Tikosyn, which helps a lot of people. Have you increased your dosage lately? I found that dosage increases made me lightheaded and dizzy for a day or two. > > Date: 2005/01/25 Tue PM 02:26:14 EST > To: AFIBsupport > Subject: Flacinide (Tambocor) light headed. > >

Well.. i did not have any AFib after the ablation 3 months ago & i have a follow up appointment next Monday. Alfred kstept@... wrote: I fell dizzy and light-headed when I take flecainide, too. Guest guest
Hey there, I been on Flecainide for a year (50mg twice a day) and was doing fine, playing squash for 2hrs twice a week and basketball for another 2 hrs. Only problem I had for this period was some strong heart beats but no AFib. Now I jinxed myself and just recently had an episode 3 weeks ago and my doctor just double my dose to 100mg twice a day. No strong heart beats and no dizziness yet but was warned. Did anyone start low and move up or straight to max dose? Neil > I fell dizzy and light-headed when I take flecainide, too. Guest guest
I am on 300mg of flecainide per day, too. My ablation was last week. I will stay on it for 2 months, then go off to see if the ablation suppresses afib on its own, without help from flecainide. > > > Date: 2005/01/26 Wed PM 03:10:47 EST > To: AFIBsupport > Subject: Re: Flacinide (Tambocor) light headed. (snip) I agree. Each time they raised my dose, I experiences dizzy spells or visual disturbances for a few days to two weeks... but now I rarely notice them. , Charlotte NC flecainide 150mg x2
Guest guest
> > (snip)Did anyone > start low and move up or straight to max dose? > > Neil > Hi Neil: After lone PAF diagnosis some 4 years ago (mostly vagal), I was started on flecainide, 50mg twice a day. I had a rhythm breakthrough the next day, and they raised my dose to 100mg twice a day. I had a few visual disturbances, but my body seemed to adjust over a few weeks. That kept me in rhythm for about three years, then I started having more breakthroughs. Two required electro-version. After the second they raised me to my current dose of 150mg twice a day. Again had a few visual disturbances and dizziness, again my body seemed to adjust. Now in NSR for 11+ months. , Charlotte NC flecainide 150mg x2, aspirin 325mg, magnesium oxide 250mg, fish oil concentrate 100mg x2.
