Hi Abbey,

I too have cholinergic urticaria (and others as well). My allergist is

very frustrated that NOTHING seems to be controlling the symptoms. I

cannot handle large doses of anything as I get the side effects. I

commiserate with you on the " hermit " thing. That's what I've been

doing. . . staying inside where it's cool and planning my day around the heat.

I'm on Zyrtec 10 mg and Zantac 300 mg taken at bedtime. I need more

relief as I cannot tolerate any heat. . . I took another Zyrtec one

afternoon. Within two hours I had heart palpitations - very jittery as

though I had just had a lot of coffee (I do not drink coffee). I was

dizzy and lightheaded and suddenly had an overwhelming desire to sleep.

I'm interested in what Su had to say because I may start gradually

increasing my dose. (Under Dr's supervision of course).

Zantac Side Effects. I have had an increase in blurred vision, pain

behind the eyes and blood-shot eyes. The opthamologist says this is

rare but he has seen this in people who use Zantac (not Zyrtec) - and it

seems to be dose-related. To remedy all of that - I take 150 mg. Zantac

2x/day instead of a single dose at night. I also use an ophthalmic sln.

and wear contacts less. My eyes are also dry but that is due to Zyrtec.

Zantac and Pepcid also give me premature ventricular contractions

(PVC's harmless extra heart beat) again I've been told this is uncommon.

Take Care.

Jeanne , CA
