Have you tried Phernergan or Thorazine?? Some people say that peppermint helps, but that sounds awful to me when I'm nauseated. Hope you feel better soon! I know that is a horrible feeling to have.

Definately pepperment might help. I've used it in a pinch.

Applesauce (no sugar added) ginger and tea can help as well. You

might be dehydrated too. I notice when I'm dehydrated from GI

problems I get excessively nauseas. That's been the case for me the

last few days. I increased my water intake and have had soup for

lunch and dinner to make sure I'm getting sufficient electrolytes.

Avoid caffiene and sugar too. Stick with a bland diet and don't

overeat if you do start feeling less nauseas.

Is it possible you're constipated ? That might explain the bloating

and nausea can result from that also.

Medication options besides those mentioned are also Compazine and on

the high end Kytril and Zofran but those are usually for chemo

patients. I would investigate the cause before requesting strong

meds which may have significant side effects and play around with

homeopathic remedies until you can see the doc.

> It's been since last Friday that I haven't been able to keep any

food down.

I've just finished another attack of blockage this week, after

about 3 weeks of using mostly liquids for nutrition (getting around

50% of my normal calories). In the past, because of my diabetes meal

plan, I tended to stick to the meal plan, even when I didn't feel

like eating. This was a mistake. I now stop eating as soon as I

realize there is a problem.

As for Nausea, I've been through the older stanards (Promethazine

and another I can't recall). They all have significant side effects

for me. I finally ended up on Zofran (expensive at $15/pill) and

can't really even say this drug completely addresses my nausea - but

at least I don't experience side effects.

Since I've been quicker to stop eating (and even drinking liquids),

the nausea has significantly subsided for me. However, this last 3-

week long episode, which is the longest I've had, is making the

problem more of an issue. If it had gone on another week, I don't

know what the next step would have been.

Is there a chance that you have a bowel blockage? Ruth

-----Original Message-----From: hanna5918 Sent: Saturday, January 03, 2004 12:39 PMTo: Subject: need suggestions for nauseaIt's been since last Friday that I haven't been able to keep any food down. I thought maybe I had the flu but now I not sure as I also have gastroparesis so I'm beginning to wonder. I've lost weight but interestingly, my abdominal area remains bloated. This isn't something new for me except for the constant gagging. I'm taking tigan but it doesn't seem to be helping. Does anyone know of any other med I could ask for that might be more helpful? I'm going to Cleveland this week for a gi appt but don't think I can hang in there until then.
