Hi. We're new to the group. Our daughter Mia, was diagnosed with

club foot (left foot only) in utero. She is now 10 weeks old. She

was casted after one week. Since her case was not too severe, she

responded well to casting which lasted seven weeks. She has been

using the DDB for almost two weeks now. The first week was hell.

We had to get cushion inserts put in the back of the Markell shoes

after day one, so her foot would stay in since they're so small

(size 000). They still don't always stay in, even at the tightest

setting. She is getting better with them, but she seems to reach a

breaking point at 13-14 hrs/day. Is this normal? We feel we need

to give her a break as she is obviously in pain from her heels

rubbing up on the back of the shoe which is causing red spots to

develop. I'm sure she frustrated also by the lack of freedom of

mobility. She sleeps very peacefully when they're off, but we're

aware that long-term this is not the best alternative.

Our doctor advised 23 hrs/day to start, we see him after a month,

then maybe down to 20 hrs/day until crawling, then only during sleep

periods. Is this consistent with the rest of the group?

I'm also interested in the new padded shoes. Are they available

direct? Are they orderable from shoe stores or is it hit or miss?

I've wondered why they weren't padded on the strap as it has a

tendency to dig into the top of the foot. It would also help to

keep the shoes more snug. Any info on this would be helpful.

Sorry for the long post, but it's the first one. We promise to keep

future one shorter.
