Guest guest
I am SOOO sorry about the worm I've been passing out. (#!@!%!) Please know that MS outlook has been automatically responding to ALL email that I received (even the spammers-haha) with a comment that says: Take a look to the attachment. When you try to open the attachment, you will see a message that says: " File data corrupt: probably due to bad data transmission or bad disk access " It is natural for you to try to open this attachment, because its comes in as a REPLY to an innocent email that you sent out... looks like a response . I got it from someone replying to an email that I sent to a yahoogroups list. They were not TRYING to reply to me on purpose. The reply is automatic. Kicker: The worm does not kick in until you have to reboot Windows. It was at least 1 wk between the time I received this worm, & the time that I rebooted my computer, which then activated the worm. This is why you need info. I did not know I had the worm until it activated (Outlook sent out replies with worm attachments). Its not hard to fix. Its the flounder time for researching for someone (me) who is not technically smart. For instructions to remove this worm, I used info from the following: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.badtrans.13312mm (DOT) html and http://vil.mcafee.com/dispVirus.asp?virus_k=99069 & If you opened the attachment, you may wish to print this info & have it handy... This seems to be the only recourse I can offer to minimize damage... Perhaps if the person who sent the worm to me had responded with ANY info, damage would have been less (?) Again, I am truly very sorry. My McAffee didn't pick this up despite my updates to the program. This must mean that I need to work to improve my McAffee.
