Guest guest
a I went to a private driving school who is licensed to do evals for van adaptations. There were a couple of guys from a conversion company who just happened to be there with a van as well. I have had a handicapped license plate for about 10 years and haven't had to drive until today. This was to check for my balance, range of motion, etc. They recommend the system like yours with the seat that moves back and turns and then moves forward. It will also raise and lower to get the wheelchair seat and van seat at the same level. I will be using my feet for driving. That was something else they checked. They suggested having the gear shift put on the left because of my shoulder and they will check the location of the heating controls on the mini van I want. I planned on getting a Windstar, but they have been discontinued and replaced by the Freestar, so I don't know what changes have been made. They said they were more concerned with my shoulder over time than my mito. Now that was a switch. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Tue, 30 Sep 2003 18:47:50 -0500 > To: > Subject: Re: van > > Laurie, > I am glad your evaluation went well. Guest guest
Laurie, That is a switch, being worried more about the shoulder than the mito! Wow. I am glad you are getting good help with everything. I had wanted to go with a Windstar as well, but the place I went said the only did Grand Caravans (now I know differently!). I do enjoy my van and the freedom it gives me. I hope you enjoy yours as well when you get it. Smiles, a
Guest guest
Celia Congratulation on the first public trip. You might start realizing how much you have eliminated from your life in a gradual manner, because it was just too hard. Without my scooter and current van, I would be sitting at home. I am so glad you found the experience a good one. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Wed, 01 Oct 2003 16:37:09 -0000 > To: > Subject: Re: van > > -Hi Laurie, I hope you get your van, lift and power chair soon. I ended up with a house full of plaster dust. Being a desert, I already live in a house of dust, but this was ridiculous. I'm sure it doesn't do much good for the lungs either. I do like the door, though. B

Guest guest
Wow Laurie, Why so long to get to you? Are they dragging it by camel? (maybe since it's here in AZ - I should pick it up for you and drive it to your house Maggie > Hi folks > > My new van finally arrived in AZ yesterday. Guest guest
Maggie Hey, that sounds good. I called today and was kind of nasty about the huge delay and will keep at it to try to get Ford Motor Company to pay some of my rental car. It had to be built and then shipped to Phoenix. There was no reason that anyone could give me why it took from Jan. 13 when it was built until yesterday to just go across the county. It will take about 8 weeks in Phoenix to have the conversion done for the wheelchair ramp and some other accommodations. Then some additional ones have to be made in Michigan which should take a couple of weeks. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Wed, 10 Mar 2004 23:11:27 -0000 > To: > Subject: Re: van > > Wow Laurie, > Why so long to get to you?
