Guest guest
yes, same doctor. Fortunately I have a doctor that is cooperative. It didn't come easy. He was about my 4th doctor in 4 years. He basically does what I tell him too, and if that changes I will move on.....I do think you should give the T3 some time. I didn't make the switch sooner because I was working full time, etc and I wasn't sure whether I would have a crash with the switch. I've heard sometimes you get worse before you get better. That was not the case for me, BUT, as someone pointed out it is because my body was already use to the T3 with the cytomel. So, if you should switch at some point, your transition should be smooth also. I have learned to really enjoy the good days because I never know what tomorrow will bring..... When you switched to the Armour, did you have the same doc as with the T3? I figure I will give this to the first labwork and see if my numbers and metabolism and cholesterol improve and then look at the option of Armour. I agree about the cost too, I now have to pay for two drugs and the cytomel is very expensive!Sue I noticed my fatigue was NOT as extreme. Fatigue has always been my biggest symptom. I think I noticed pretty quickly....within days..hard to remember. And, now since the switch to Amour only, I've been feeling better than I have in a very LONG time. Last week was my best week ever, and I felt so good I felt like shouting it from the rooftops. I imagine it's how "normal" people feel most of the time, lol. But, as someone pointed out earlier, everyone is different. We all have to try what's best for us. I was on the Synthroid/Cytomol for about one year. I was functional, but still didn't feel great. Also, the cost factor is much less for me being on Armour only. The cytomel was more expensive for me. I do mail order prescription so that is even more economical. Also, with the cytomel, I saw the scale move some too, and that was great, as I do need to lose weight...but it wasn't a magic pill, I still had to watch what I ate, etc.Marie From: The_Thyroid_Support_Group [mailto:The_Thyroid_Support_Group ] On Behalf Of jytdtpSent: Thursday, March 09, 2006 7:55 AMTo: The_Thyroid_Support_Group Subject: Re: To Sue -new member - questionHi Marie,How soon did you notice the T3 and what kinds of things did you notice? I just added the T3 Saturday and feel no different but will give it a few weeks. My main concern is my metabolism – and my cholesterol — both have gone way up in the last two years when I was diagnosed with hashis/hypo and goiter. My T3 has been just barely above the lowest end of the range so I will know more in about 6 weeks when I have labs done. Thanks,Sue
Guest guest
Hi Marie, You are so right about the enjoy the good days part and yes, I do the same – I have those “yell from the rooftop” days but still have my crash and burn days but overall feel pretty darn good. I have always been a high strung, high anxiety type person so fatigue has not been an issue for me -- it’s the weight gain when I only eat 1200 calories low fat, low carb and exercise 4-5 times a week that makes no sense to me. I am 48 and heading into menopause so I realize that plays into it as well. I will give this med time – I have having no bad affects from it as I have read on another board about racy heart, agitation, etc. and I agree that if I do go to armour it will be a smooth transition. Where does your doctor keep your numbers? Mine were “ok” before but my TSH went out of range last month and my T3F has always just squeaked by that minimum range... Thanks, Sue yes, same doctor.
