Guest guest
Sara, good for you gotta start some where. It was hard for me to resign to from my job. I really loved working at our local college in the bookstore. I was an accounting clerk.. I loved working with the students. It was for the best my boss was doing a lot of my job and she didn't want me to leave but it just wasn't fair to her. The three wheel walker is OK but look at the four wheel one I think you would have better balance and when you're tired you have a place to sit down. The balance problem is a big problem haven't found out how to improve it. With me it has gotten worse as the years go by and I do excersize but nothing seems to help. The biggest problem I have is catching myself if I fall backwards just can't get those legs to move fast enough. I think most of us have the same trouble with balance...................You're on the right track getting out there hope you find something that will keep you moving......................Flora
Guest guest
Thank you all for your support and good advice. Today, I feel much better. Spent the day traveling with my husband - so was very good to get out of the house. I think alot came rolling in at once - signed my termination papers at work on Thursday, being home alone all week-end - trying to sell our 2 story house - and it all just caught up to me at once. Tomorrow, I'm going to the YWCA and speaking with someone about help getting in and out of the pool. Plus, I have offered to volunteer my time with battered women. I then plan on taking some computer classes at the local college. I have checked in on a 3 wheel walker with brakes. It's a light weight one (8 pounds). This will help me get around - as long as there are no stairs. I can go up and down stairs as long as there is a hand railing - but don't think I could carry the walker. Just wondering if anyone has gotten better - I mean the walking with exercise? I really want to gain my balance back - any tips? Thanks for being here when I needed the group the most. God Bless. Guest guest
Sara: Good for you, sounds li you have taken control. I may suggest that if at possible try to meet other's with PLS. I forgot where you live, but it's so therapeutic t meet other's and learn. My first was Mark Weber, but had been in contact via snail mail with my dear friend Joe Alberstadt when I was first diagnosed. Good Luck, and hang in there.
