Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I'm hypothyroid and I think my cortisol levels are extremely low. First 2 serum cortisol levels. These were taken around 9 AM 5/31/07: 7.4 (4.3-22.4) this doc said " normal " 7/31/07: 5.2 (4.0-22.0) this doc said looks o.k who't the one treating me for thyroid, hormones. saliva cortisol (o.k. I did this from Labcorp not ZRT like the doc wanted me to. Labcorp took my insurance. So I think the doc was not used to seeing these levels and there wasn't a nice little chart that told her anything about my results) labcorp had norm results for these times 8AM,4PM,11Pm 8AM .29 (.18-.95) 12PM .09 (no range given) 4PM .13 (.10-.33) Midnight .10 (11PM range .03-.19) I stayed up at night until this point. Well, all look very low to me. I do have hyperpigmentation on my face and exteme fatigue. So the doc I'm with now specializes in bioidentical hormones and is supposed to know about low cortisol, etc. I'm not happy with her at all. She thinks my cortisol is normal?????? I think she's had enough training to be dangerous. She put me on a compounded T4/T3 because she refused to give me Armour. So I found another doc to give me the Armour about 3 weeks ago. I've been really tired since starting the Armour(started 1/2 grain now on 3/4 grain). I have not had any racing heart, etc. So I'm thinking it's due to my adrenals. I'm taking some adrenal extracts from the doc that said cortisol looked o.k. from realthyroidhelp told me he thinks I could be hypopituitary by my labs. My SHBG looks low to me and she said looks o.k. but yet she put me on testosterone, DHEA, progesterone. Those things didn't look that low to me. I just don't think she fully knows what she's doing. other labs 7/31/07 sodium 140 135-146 (highest in yrs. usually 137) Potassium 4.2 3.5-5.3 Chloride 108 98-110 Carbon Dioxide 21 21-33 6/26/07 Sod 138 135-146 Pot 4.4 3.5-5.3 Chlor 108 98-110 Carb Diox 22 21-33 5/31/07 sodium 137 135-148 potas 4.0 3.5-5.5 Chloride 103 96-109 Carbon Dioxide 22 20-32 I've read that low carbon dioxide is a sign of adrenal fatigue and elevated chloride, too.
