Can anyone offer any enlightment to help me make my choice? --- end of quote --- Hi Colin - I know that Widex and Phonak companies allow for a trial of the hearing aid - I'm guessing Oticon does too. I'd let your daughter test drive each aid and see how she likes them. We did that for my younger son, Sam when he was a little older than your daughter (I think he was 7). He was very clear in what he liked and what he didn't like. Our audiologist tried a Siemans aid that he hated - he didn't want to wear it at all. On the other hand, when he was fitted with the Phonak Supero aid (which is a power aid - Sam has a profound loss), he asked us if he could wear them home! Too bad there's no consumer reports article on this, no? Good luck! Guest guest
We have the Digi Focus II. I really like them. But i dont have anything to compare them to. LOL! They work great, light, small, great colors. He hears very well with them. The batteries are cheap at Costco. Guest guest
Hi Colin, My almost 5 year old has been wearing Oticon Adapto aids for 2 years now. Her loss is at 70 in both ears and with these digital aids she tests at 15 to 20 across the board. Her loss is straight across the chart instead of sloping. They have worked wonderfully for her. I did have to send them in for repair a couple of times when we first got them, but after buying a dry and store I have had no more repairs!! Hope this helps. Bethany Need hearing aid advice - which phonak/widex/oticon model? I'm wondering if anyone would be able to offer any opinions on this: My 5.5 year old daughter has hearing aids that will be 5 years old at the end of the year. So I wanted to get a replacement set sometime this year. Current aids are Oticion Digifocus II (her loss is moderate to severe, she does not need high power aids). Cost is not an issue. I am planning to stick again to digital. Some models I've been told of: OTICON Digifocus II OTICON Guya (sp?) (cheaper but just as good as Digifocus II?) OTICON Adapto or Syncro (both cost a bit more than Digifocus II) WIDEX Diva PHONAK Perseo 211 (also a new Phonak model will be out soon but not yet?) Can anyone offer any enlightment to help me make my choice? Thanks, Colin. All messages posted to this list are private and confidential.
