I am glad to hear your son is getting better. My son is almost 4 with severe

Apraxia and just started him on the DAN protocal. I have not tried HBOT but it

looks promising. I plan to look into it as well. Here's an article which may

be useful:

Hi Everyone,

My son is 9 years old and has Autism and severe Apraxia. My son really

tries to talk but he can't. We have been treating his Autism for 7 years

and he is getting better. We use most of the DAN (Defeat Autism Now)

protocol for his Autism. We have also been doing SLP and OT for years.

My latest project is trying HBOT Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. My question

is has anyone used HBOT Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy on their child? Also,

do you know any Apraxia experts in Central North Carolina?

Thanks,

Diesel,

By apraxia experts, are you looking for MDs or SLPs/OTs? We've had success

with both Developmental Therapy Associates in Cary, and Let's Talk in Cary

for therapies. Our son is now four, and had severe drooling in combination

with the apraxia. He is also a spectrum child. A combination of oral/motor

exercises and a comprehensive speech therapy approach have helped him,

though he is still significantly delayed with his speech.

We've seen Dr. Kristi Milowic at Raleigh Neurology. She's a developmental

pediatrician, and we like her approach. While she is a traditional doc, she

is not averse to alternative treatments, provided there is not a chance they

might harm the child. She's been supportive and informative.

I have not heard anything about the HBOT, but will be curious to hear about

your results.

Best,

Pam O'Connor

Hi Diesel-

I'm very interested in HBOT also. I'd suggest you ask on an autism

biomed group like csb-autism-rx, abmd, or chelatingkids2 - those

folks are most likely to be able to point you to a HBOT provider in

your area.

If you try it, I hope you'll post about your experience with it!

Good luck,

Pam

Thanks so much. I think we are going to check out Developmental Therapy

Associates. Wow are son was a drooler too. He finally dryed up. :)The HBOT seems

to be very popular now, especially with CP kids.
