Iodine side effects-- severe anxiety?

I have a low-normal thyroid function. My Dr. gave me an iodine urine

test, and I excreted 70% (should be 90% or more). She started me on

12.5mg iodoral per day. After taking it for 10 days, I got a " sore

throat " around the thyroid (it feels enlarged), and I also got anxiety

24 hours per day! I was unable to sleep for several days, even Ambien

did not work. Still recovering, how long does it take to go back

down? Has this happened to anyone else, or have you heard of it

happening from iodine supplementation?
