Guest guest
My last period was very very heavy just over Thanksgiving. I lost lots of blood and there was lots of heavy clotting. Prior to that, my ferritin had just been run and was 80. Since that period I have a lot of new symptoms including feeling very cold, very irritable and depressed. Is there anyway that iron could have gone low enough to cause these things after just that one period?
Guest guest
I'm interested to see what Val says about this, but I think it could lower your iron significantly if you are having actual bleeding that is not the uterine lining, but probably blood vessels in the uterus (or ?). Before my hysterectomy, I was having lots of actual bleeding. And would get extremely weak feeling, etc. And I was having 2 such heavy periods with " real bleeding " and heavy clotting a month. I'd bet anything my iron was tanked back then. Talking to a hypoT friend of mine the other day (she also has Hashi's like I seem to have), and she has " real " bleeding during her periods. So now I'm wondering if this is something connected to hypoT, or something that is just more common among women with hypothyroid. I used to notice the bleeding because it was so bright red, but if that blood pools in or soaks into the uterine lining, it might not be noticeable as other than normal shed uterine lining? Just my speculation. Could be entirely wrong. sol Gikas wrote: > My last period was very very heavy just over Thanksgiving. I lost lots of blood and there was lots of heavy clotting. Guest guest
I have this problem too, after my periods. Um, so the brighter the red, that could mean that you're loosing actual blood? I usually have a problem with darker looking blood. Hmmmm, fill me in. What color would mean theres a problem? Maybe taking some iron during that weak could benefit, huh? > > I'm interested to see what Val says about this, but I think it could > lower your iron significantly if you are having actual bleeding that is > not the uterine lining, but probably blood vessels in the uterus (or ?). > Before my hysterectomy, I was having lots of actual bleeding. Guest guest
I as well experience this quite often. When I was younger I used to get horrible pain. I was doubled over for an hour sometimes . a MsSquarepants wrote: Those are all hypo symptoms. I have experience all that. Guest guest
i had these extreme bleedings while moving into 6th or 7th stage adrenal exhaustion. i was also peri menopausal at that time. one possibility would be that you might be low in progesterone. bw Nil Re: re: blood loss/symptoms I'm interested to see what Val says about this, but I think it could
