Guest guest
> info regarding exercising when on flecainide? **************************************** Success: This really sounds like a question your doctor should answer. You might ask him about cardiac rehab--where you would be monitored and checked out. Good luck to you, Lee
Guest guest
I was placed on flecainide Oct 1st. I had alresdy tried toprol XL, sotalol, propafenone, rythmol SR,then flecainide and toprol XL. I've been tru 50 mg, 75mg, 100 mg on the flec, then last week EP increased it to 150 mg to try to control my afib. On day 3 of increased dose I passed out. Went to the hospital and an EKG showed I had a prolonged QT interval....bad news there. I was hospitalized on telemetry for 48 hrs , decreased flec to 100 mg, lots of blood draws which showed low potassium, EKGs, echo,. QT interval went back to normal. They told me without a monitor on at the time I passed out, I could have had a low HR, heart block or very fast rate. I now have a LOOP monitor on for 1 month. So far I'm doing OK and will probably be ablated early next yr. That's my experience with flecainide. Pam
Guest guest
I maintained NSR for seven years on a dose of 150 mg twice a day. In the early days, 100 mg would not do the trick. On my last exam, the we decided to try 100 mg again. So far after a few months, success! I also take 25mg of Lopressor. This might be a case of remodeling due to NSR. My atria returned to near normal size after being in NSR so long. > > > I was placed on flecainide Oct 1st. I have been on it for 3 months and feel like I am in a constant state of Buzz, headaches and always tired. I am 39 active and in shape and feel like this medicine is breaking me down. Any new treatments I could ask my Doctor about. I have only had 3 known AF's but one did result in a seizure and a hospital stay. Not sure if I can go off it. I have lone AF. thanks
Guest guest
Hi: When you " graduate " to Flecainide and unhappy about it, there are only meds left. This has been my experience. From Flecainide I moved to Rythmos or Rythmol (which proved not effective). Then tried Amiodarone which is supposed to be the most effective, and indeed it was, but it comes with a load of side effects, short and long term. I suffered from short term effects, and moved on to Sotalol which combines beta blocking and antiarhythmic properties. I have learned to live with it, but it is also not free of side effects. In this " premier " league you will find also Tykosin (also known as Dofetilide). It is not available in my country. Re: Simpler Blood Thinning Medication I read every word, but I missed something. Why is this drug " simpler " ?
