Guest guest
Chris Welcome to the group. Anemia is not unusual with mito. Potassium deficiencies in mito are usually caused by the kidneys not working properly and spilling too much into your urine. I spill potassium, magnesium and phosphorus. Potassium deficiency can be the result of water pills as well. laurie > From: chris1gill@... > Reply-To: > Date: Mon, 1 Mar 2004 21:29:33 EST > To: > Subject: Potassium/Iron Deficiency? > > Hi Everyone, > > I'm new here & have a question. Guest guest
Dear Welcome! I have had bouts of anemia and low potassium in the past. Now I am usually low in magnesium, and I get awful whole-leg muscle cramps at times, in both legs. It is the worst pain I have ever experienced. Impaired metabolism certainly can adversely affect electrolyte status. I hope you will improve on the supplements. I have done better with my gastroparesis since I switched to Tishcon's CoQ 10. Good luck. Hi Everyone, I'm new here & have a question. Thelma, I notice you mentioned that you take Potassium, does anyone know if Anemia or Potassium deficience are related to Mito? I ask, because pretty recently my eye muscle started with spasms several hundred times a day & as soon as I started taking iron supplements, it stopped.... a friend of mine mentioned that the same thing happened to someone else she knew & it was a potassium deficiency... I was dx'd with anemia several months back, but it wasn't very serious, just new... It's just odd that the increase in iron supplements seemed to stop the spasms... By the way I've been dx'd with mito for the last year and a half, but before that went misdiagnosed for eight years... It seemed one system after another stopped working & when I finally couldn't walk anymore, somebody took notice... Mostly I'll be lurking, but am looking forward to find out what other adults with mito do for treatment. Thanks, Chris In a message dated 3/1/2004 5:25:01 PM Eastern Standard Time, writes: Subject: Malisa- odd disoriented feelingMalisa,I have those odd disoriented feeling when it is hard to talk and think. Mine feels more like i am briefly paralyzed for seconds, and then i can talk, but i am very wiped out after them. I usually go to emerg when they happen, but they never find anything. They are not nearly as frequent since i have been taking 360 mg. of coenzyme Q and 1200 mg of potassium. I hope they get to the bottom of this for you. I have not had a SPECT. I hope you get it soon.Love, Thelma Medical advice, information, opinions, data and statements contained herein are not necessarily those of the list moderators. Guest guest
Dear Welcome to the group. I'm sure you will find everyone very helpful and supportive here. I suffer from periodic drops in my iron- no one knows why- but iron supplementation seems to help. I never linked it to any other symptoms before., Celia > Hi Everyone, > > I'm new here & have a question.
