I will let the girls more informed and experienced with hormones to answer the hormone questions.. Yes they are in range..what part of the range I am not sure as the range is a wide range. TSH 1.33 is normal.. FT4 11 ( 9-24) is in range but low and I really do not think it is reflective of your TSH..but it would depend on symptoms of hypo..with a low FT4 see if you can get the doctor to order a FT3..( the active thyroid hormone), very few people feel well with a FT4 reaching the bottom end of normal but the odd person does.. A few more questions for you? Morning body temperature? Resting pulse? Symptoms? ( hot/cold) ( dry skin/dry hair) ( slow healer) ( wieght?) Guest guest
--- Symptoms? ( hot/cold) ( dry skin/dry hair) ( slow healer) ( wieght?) Ok resting pulse is = 60-72 Temperature mostly I am warm but at night cold. skin I guess ok and hair dry heal very slow but lately have got no wounds so I don't know weight 198 lb now I have been 180 lbs for long despite I exersice regularly 5 days a week half hour cardio and lift weights the rest/day. T4 and T3 are the actual thyroid hormones, you want them measured in Free versions so other hormones do not skew the test.. I hate to make a judgement or decision call with out all the results to view but if your T3 comes back in line with your T4 meaning they are both at the lower end of the range I am thinking you would benefit from replacement hormone but I am also thinking given your history you need to dismiss the TSH as being non functional and dose and test based on actual hormone levels.. Guest guest
---Hey Kats... sorry to sound stupid but I should test for FREE T3 and T4 what else should I ask for Thanks inadvance. > > > > > > > > Okay Kats3boys I will ask my doc to do FT3 and about the temp > > 3 days at 98.5 and 3 days at 93.7 > > slow healer Yes. and resting pulse is 68 and for b/p 130/78. > > please any insight what this all mean.I see my GP in 2 weeks. > > > > > I am thinking you are hypo and could use some replacement hormone.. > T4 and T3 are the actual thyroid hormones, you want them measured in > Free versions so other hormones do not skew the test.. > I hate to make a judgement or decision call with out all the results > to view but if your T3 comes back in line with your T4 meaning they > are both at the lower end of the range I am thinking you would > benefit from replacement hormone but I am also thinking given your > history you need to dismiss the TSH as being non functional and dose > and test based on actual hormone levels.. > > Kats3boys >
Guest guest
> > ---Hey Kats... sorry to sound stupid but I should test for FREE T3 > and T4 what else should I ask for Thanks inadvance. > You need to have both Free T4 and Free T3 tested.. another test that maybe useful for you is a test called TRH.. This is from Merck on the TRH test.. Testing with thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH): Serum TSH is measured before and after an IV injection of 500 µg synthetic TRH. Normally, there is a rapid rise in TSH levels of 5 to 25 µU/mL, reaching a peak in 30 min and returning to normal by 120 min. The rise is exaggerated in primary hypothyroidism. The TRH test may be useful in distinguishing pituitary from hypothalamic hypothyroidism. Patients with hypothyroidism secondary to a pituitary deficiency have an absent or impaired TSH response to TRH. Patients with a hypothalamic disorder who have deficient TRH reserve and a normal pituitary reserve will usually release normal amounts of TSH in response to TRH, although the release may be delayed and prolonged, resulting in a shift in the time of release. In hyperthyroidism, TSH release remains suppressed, even in response to injected TRH, because of the inhibitory effects of the elevated free T4 and free T3 on the pituitary thyrotroph cell. However, with newer TSH assays, the TRH test is rarely needed to diagnose thyroid dysfunction because the basal serum TSH is proportional to the TSH response to TRH. Because of your history I would ask the doctor for this test.. your Free T4 and Free T3 will tell how well you are doing but the TRH test will tell why..
