After that, there are several excellent Hospitals. I believe Dr. Chen or Cheng in Houston is very highly regarded. He's listed in our data base. Another excellent heart hospital down your way is the U of Alabama- Birmingham Medical Center. But the top spot is the CC and Dr. Natale. Many on this board are his patients are some with Dr. Chen or Cheng and the U of Ala. Rich O
Guest guest
I have found this site, http://www.a-fib.com/ , most helpful. It will link you to Drs. In your area that perform ablations and to facilities where they perform them. I am surprised your EP suggested only 30 % success rate for ablations. Most published results today are much higher than that. aspirin, acebutalol, varapamil
Guest guest
I just returned from The Cleveland Clinic last night where I had an ablation Monday (12/27) ..they were great (Dr. Natale) and the initial results are perfect...I have been in NSR since the procedure. They did advise there is a 3 month observation and I could have times when the heart returns into AFIB. So far so good. Good luck to you.... Doug Hospital reccomendation? I've been diagnosed with Atrial Flutter & Atrial Fibrillation. On Dec. 6, 2004, An EP study was performed, and indicated that I had both. The EP Doctor performed an ablation for the Flutter, but not the Fibrillation. He had said something like, " there was only about a 30% chance of success if he had went after the Fibrillation. " So he left it alone. It's now Dec.30, and I've been to the ER several times with Tachycardia in the 230 range. It now appears I need to have an ablation for the Fibrillation and/or perhaps correct anything that may have been missed the first time around. I'd like to get this groups opinion of where some of the best hospitals are, that can perform these procedures. I live in Dallas, TX, and the only hospitals remotely mentioned are in Houston. But I've heard a lot of referrals for places like The Cleveland Clinic, s Hopkins, etc. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Guest guest
Way to go, Doug! Congrats. Do you know what the waiting time is these days for an ablation with Natale? > > I just returned from The Cleveland Clinic last night where I had an ablation Monday (12/27) ..they were great (Dr. Natale) and the initial results are perfect...I have been in NSR since the procedure.
