Guest guest
Good for you Jean. I had a very challenging day yesterday. For some reason I had cravings that I had to really struggle with but I won. We had a terrible storm this am with hail the size of golf balls. It broke one of my side windows on my bay window. I left my car out last night to so it is full of dents. It broke my birdbath and even put dents in our steel siding. This weather is getting awful. Good Luck this week Jean. Have fun with you nephew and sister. Laverne
Guest guest
WTG for the weekend thing. If I have a day like the amusment park day, one that helps me is to eat a huge breakfast of bacon & eggs. That holds me for much longer than something lighter, and I'm not even hungry at lunch, although I eat anyway to keep my blood sugar even. You should be able to get a hamburger or a hot dog at the park, and the other things won't be as tempting if you aren't that hungry. Good luck! I'm travelling this week too, that is hard, particularly when they bring in those awful boxed lunches. I've started going to the cafeteria and just buying my own lunch even if it is kinda rude - hey, it's rude for them to serve me food that will make me sick! Lucky for me there is a cafeteria in our office there. Since you are travelling on business, will they pay for your food if you get yourself something different? If yes, it would still be " free " to you! Think of it this way, it may seem free, but there is a price to be paid by your body. So it really true, there's no such thing as a free lunch LOL! ;-) Beth in TX wrote: << I just want to report to everyone that I weigh the same on Monday morning that I did on Friday morning. While that would be a bummer to those of you on strict levels of induction or OWL, for me it is a real victory. I have three days of real challenging eating this week though, so who knows what will happen. Wednesday my sister and I are taking my nephew to an amusement park for the day, options are limited and carrying stuff around with you isn't an easy option. Though I know there are some passable choices for me, so I will see what I can do. Then Thursday and Friday I have meetings in Des Moines and I can guarantee most of it will be higher carb. I will plan to bring a few things with me, but resisting the temptations of what is available, at no dollar cost to me, is a real struggle. >>
Guest guest
That is scary, hope you are otherwise alright and the weather clears up soon. Congratulations on beating the cravings. A lot of times, if I can just get through one day of the cravings, they get better the next day. I've had to give up bars (again!) because I've been eating them the last week or so and they touched off terrible cravings, and then a shameful incident involving a large number of cookies in a small amount of time LOL! Guest guest
Thanks Beth. My husband just got home from taking my car to an auto repair shop and they said that they will probably just total out my car, that is how bad it is. Guest guest
Laverne, It sounds like you are doing really well, in spite of the cravings, you didn't cave, so you won! I can relate to the weather problems, Iowa is having the same thing. More hail storms this year than usual. Fortunately, Pella hasn't had quite the damage you did. I bet you were sick that you could have had your car in the garage. Doesn't it seem to go that way? Last week Tuesday I had my sister pick me up for work because her car still has hail dents from a storm about 4 years ago that they never had fixed. Des Moines had golf ball and baseball sized hail that did unbelievable damage. The hail that we had was about the size of quarters and fortunately, my car was in the garage when it came. Then Thursday we weren't supposed to have any bad weather and about 10 after 4 then sent us all home because a severe thunderstorm with high winds and large hail was headed our way. We get off at 4:30 in the summer anyway and I think they figured why put people through that again if they could get home first. Well, I made it home and we didn't get the hail, but we had some damaging winds. Tonight we are supposed to get more of the same, but it is supposed to hold off until later in the evening. We haven't had recurring rains like this since '93 when the entire state was declared a disaster area. I can only remember one year when we had this many severe storms this close together. Of course, we still have it good compared to the people that had to deal with . Guest guest
Oh, Laverne! I'm sorry you had all that hail damage! Will insurance cover it or not? Terry168/159/156 (minigoal)/ ? Guest guest
I am so very proud of you! What a great Monday morning report! Hey, try to remember that if you make a bad food choice this week at some point . . . you don't have to eat the whole thing. Have a bite or two if you feel like you have to, but just because you bite into it doesn't mean you have to eat the whole thing. I'm rooting for you to get to that Friday goal (or maybe even a bit lower!) this week. Terry168/159/156 (minigoal)/ ? Guest guest
Thanks, Terry! I am hoping for the Friday goal too, of course, I will be at a hotel on Friday morning and I am not hauling my scale there, so I will just see where I am on Thursday morning and use that as my Friday weight. That way, I will still be counting the amusement park day, but I won't be counting the meeting struggles to come. If I am at goal or below on Thursday, that goal is going down next week. I am hoping to get below it before Wednesday, so that maybe I can maintain at worst. 190/142.5/135 12/7/98 Recurring Friday Goal -
