Guest guest
Today was the staffing to get the results of my sons evaluation that was done to evaluate where is and what placement he should be put in next year (he will be 3 years old in August) for pre-school. is XYY (has an extra Y chromosome) and has pretty severe apraxia which involves his oral skills and motor planning. He is not saying any other words except ³yeah², but he does do some signing. The psychologist reported that an evaluation that was done when he was 15 months old showed him to be at an age appropriate cognitive level. However, this time his testing indicated that he is between 16-24 months cognitively (he is 33 months). She felt like due to his slow progress that he could possible be MR (mentally retarded). She said while they have not put that as a diagnosis they have put it as something to rule out. It was devastating news to hear because all along we really felt like he was progressing, just at somewhat of a lower pace. The one hopeful piece is that she said because of his motor planning and oral difficulties it is hard to do testing and get an accurate picture of what he understands. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how your child has progressed. I am feeling incredibly sad and discouraged. My heart aches for my precious little guy. Guest guest
, they probably did not use non-verbal cognitive testing, it's probably inaccurate. You know where he is better than they do. Peace, Kathy E.
Guest guest
AH! Motor planning problems. Know them well. My son tests like crap; pardon the language. He fails to do skills upon demand that I've seen him do many times at home. It is frustrating to me... I cannot imagine how it is for him. My child tested at -3 standard deviations below the mean in cognitive functioning at his last evaluation (35 months). That places him in the MR range. This is a 38 month old who counts to 10 (objects), knows basic colors, understands joking around, etc. Everyone tells me the tests aren't accurate. THEN WHY NOT USE A TEST THAT WILL BE ACCURATE????!!! It should get easier as these kids get older. At this point, my goals are to find ways for my son to show us what he knows. With less than optimal receptive language (due to motor planning and auditory processing disorder, in my opinion), he can't even answer questions such as " what is your name? " I know nothing about XXY. Is MR seen frequently with XXY? " Between 16-24 months " is a huge range. Does he have scattered skills that go up to 24 months? Perhaps then it is the motor planning and not MR that leads to these delays. Hopefully you will find good people to help you through this mess of diagnoses. Off to take care of son #1. He is 7.5 and has his first ear infection since he was 10 months old!!! I thought this was over with. Poor kid is miserable. Take care, Pam mom to Noah, Olivia and Ian (low-normal tone, dyspraxia, speech delayed, possible Auditory Processing Disorder, possible Autism, but all around perfect little man!) > Today was the staffing to get the results of my sons evaluation that was > done to evaluate where is and what placement he should be put in > next year (he will be 3 years old in August) for pre-school. is XYY > (has an extra Y chromosome) and has pretty severe apraxia which involves his > oral skills and motor planning. Guest guest
Hi Kathy, Congratulations on the birth of your child! I do think it's possible that you are worse off now because of the pregnancy. I felt my body was completely depleted after the birth of my son. Of course, I wasn't on Bee's diet back then (6 years ago), but I do think that pregnancy takes a huge toll on the body and it could be why you aren't tolerating the diet as well this time around. Since you were last on the diet, Bee has made several changes to her program, so it would be a good idea for you to re-read some of her articles again. 1) How to Successfully Overcome Candida http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/intro2.php 2) Curing Candida, How to Get Started http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/intro1.php In particular, we don't refer to healing reactions as " die-off " anymore because Bee has realized that candida can't be killed off and that the term " die-off " was created by the medical community to describe evidence that the body is healing itself. Also, rejuvelac is no longer required because Bee has discovered that probiotics aren't necessary for the body to heal itself; it will create them if they are necessary. You should still make sure you are getting B vitamins since they are important for healing, but perhaps you might try taking it in the capsule form to see if you tolerate it better. Since you are having a rough time, you might want to try the 9-Day program. http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/dig6.php Perhaps it's necessary for you to cut down on your fat intake until you are better able to tolerate them. Hang in there! Group Moderator > > Hi Bee > I did this diet in the fall of 2009 and had no problems with it. I had my fats and protein up and I really never experienced any die off reactions. I drank 2 egg drinks a day and had a dinner of meat, vegetable and olive oil. Then after 10 years of infertility I got pregnant. While pregnant I slipped off the diet. > > Since my baby was born 7 months ago I've been trying to get back on the diet. I have had a rough time of it. The egg drinks make me gag...although I drink one every day. And I can't seem to tolerate the fats like I used to. I've had to slowly, slowly wean off brown rice as a carb. I have had many, many die offs. This past weekend was the worst. Maybe because I was completely off the carbs. > > Do you think it's been so hard because of post-partum hormones? I can barely stand myself any more! Last night I threw up my whole dinner. > Do you have any suggestions for me? > > I have to confess that the two things that i'm not doing right now are taking the nutritional yeast flakes (they make me gag this time) and I haven't been drinking the rejuvelac. > > Are those my missing pieces? > Thanks so much, Kathy F.Cinci, OH >
