Guest guest
Thank you for the update Kathleen. Lew's right elbow was shattered in a fall on December 1, when he slipped on an icy patch of sidewalk. He had corrective surgery on December 8 and his cast was removed on December 17. December 20 was his first day of physical therapy. The injury is a very painful one and the stress of the pain has adversely affected his blood pressure. The announcement that Aleve poses risks to heart health was a set-back, coming the day after his doctor added Aleve to his daily medications! The good news is that Lew has not gone into afib. New members may not know that Lew is a journalist. Moreover, he is a right-handed journalist who cannot write or type as a result of this catastrophic injury. In anticipation of a long recuperation, he has acquired the latest version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 8.0 and a new computer with a 17' screen. I don't know much about Dragon Speak but Lew tells me that it has to be " trained " to recognize his voice. So, he will have to read aloud to it for a while before the program is ready to use. In the meantime, he is glad to have time to think about new projects and to catch up on his reading. Fortunately, he has an editor who is understanding, supportive and eager for him to get back to work. Lew continues to read the afib board and would have liked to respond to recent posts. He looks forward to returning to active participation and sends best wishes to all list members. Kathleen Stepped , MS

Guest guest
Hi Lew, I am sorry to hear about your arm/elbow, I suppose out of all the badness their is a glimmer of hope as you have not gone into Af. Just take it easy and just think if you were in the Uk and watching TV, you could watch all the reruns, like great escape, popins ,chitty chitty bang and the list goes on. Take care and have a very nice rest, a good Christmas and a very happy and healthy new year. Guest guest
Best wishes, Lew. And good luck training the dragon in your computer. I once worked for a company that shared an old New England mill that had been recycled into offices for hitech companies with the folks from DragonWorks. That was in their startup days. Best wishes and steady rhythm to all on the list. Bill Manson " When [] put on a uniform, something happened to him. He turned into Manson's cousin, Manson. Guest guest
Best Wishes and seasonal greetings Lew, I have used the dragon software and yes is does take some time to train. I found I had to be in a quiet room and refrain from muttering and cursing or the results will need a lot of editing. Stick with it, it comes good in the end. Hope you have a speedy recovery as your lively wit and on the ball aproach to current matters will be sorely missed. Tim.
