Guest guest
Hi Jill, thank you for your reply I will keep this in mind as I am stil unsure of how Ricky's loss is at the moment, whether its temporary or permentant or if its worse in one ear or the other, so after I see the ENT again in early february I am still up in the air I will know more then I suppose. Thanks again, --- JillcWood@... wrote: --------------------------------- I'm late in answering these email, so ignore me if someone has already said this. The fluid could be only one component in the loss. For instance our son would get ear infections with fluid that would take weeks to go away. But that is not what caused his stapes bone to become detached from the other middle ear bones. For Ian, fluid in the ears is only one, rather minor, part of his hearing loss. Now when he has allergies or a head cold his loss will be a bit more, but that is not a permanent reduction in his hearing. As soon as the cold has passed, he is back to his whatever his current level of loss is. However, it's my understanding that if the middle ear infection are chronic, they can cause damage (scarring) in the middle ear and that can result in a more permanent hearing loss.
