It's wasn't that cut and dry with me. My ACTH stim still didn't tell the endo

whether my adenal insufficiency was caused by pituitary or adrenals themselves

since all tests including CT of the adrenals are normal. My diagnosis is

suppression of the HPA axis due to 2 years on steroids.

I was NOTHING like what happened recently when cutting down the dose before I

went on Cortef. I truly wish now that I had known then what I know now and I

would have gotten on those expensive adrenal glandular rebuilders, the ones that

Dr. advocates from cocoon nutrition which are liquid extract vials (very

expensive) and I would have followed his advice/program in his book " Adrenal

Fatigue " to rebuild my adrenals. I don't know for sure that I would have been

able to rebuild them back to normalcy, but I would have had the chance to try.

Now I'm screwed and stuck on HC. Granted I also realize that most people here

have to take the HC in order to tolerate thyroid hormone. Just my two cents.

Your EVRYTHING looks low so I agree with thta you may be hypopit.

Have you had an ACTH STIM test? I would hunt unitl you cna find a doctor

that will do that for you. BEFORE you artar any adrenal treatment thta

would skew the results. It is important to know if it is just adrenals

or if the adrenals are OK an it is pituitary. I do not know how oyu are

functioning wiht cortiosl that low much less tolerating any thyroid.

have you had Ferritin tested? You also look like oyu nee dAldosterone so

that and Renin should be tested as well.

A STIM is VERY reliable if oyu are off all steroids and the doctor knows

how ot interpet it! MOST do not. Ijust do not believe that 20MG HC

supressed your adrenals. DO not believe it for a minute. They were that

bad and giving them coritosl simply made them LAZIER. Then not quite

giving them ENOUGH makes the problem worsen. I have seen it happen over

and over again when people stay on a too low dose of HC,. Your adrenals

MAY still come back if oyu give them ENOUUGH to be able to tolerate the

thyroid then get the thyroid OUT of it's hoel and THEN try to wean off HC.

Hi Val

I also have been taking not enough cortisol (20mg) and I learned this from your

warnings. Thanks a lot for that.

I am wondering if there is a visible sign for us to understand that we are at

point of taking enough. Can we say that we can increase the dosage until we

don't feel dizzy during the day and can stand up whole day. Or would one still

have dizziness problem and feel need for laying down even while taking enough

cortisol?

best wishes.

Nil

The dizziness should be GONE, and there is a wonderful way as you ramp

the dose up of knowing when oyu are high enough. Check BP sitting adn

then standing. It shoudl rise when you stand at least 10 points, this

shows good cortiosl levels.

I had a pretty good day on Thurs. but felt like I over did it at work

and have had two not so good days in a row - hypo HA almost all day,

dizzy, brain fog, fatigue, fingers thick and dropping things. Despite

all of that, my temps have been steady and I even increased my Armour

to 1 1/2 grains which, as some know, is big for me b/c I have had a

hard time increasing A, and temps didn't move. I have been on 27.5mg

of HC for two weeks now and temps have been steady enough that I

thought that I found my dose, but if dizziness means that I need more

cortisol, do I need to go up to 30mg of HC? Sitting BP just now was

103/75 and standing was 117/76. Last night when I took them the

systolic didn't go up but it didn't go down either. My HC dosing

schedule now is 10,7.5,5 and 5 at bedtime.
